  1. I got quite excited at the thought of 80p/litre, but went and read the berthon Marina web site - found this: Red Diesel
  2. Condor Vitesse has run into an angling boat off Poole. Really hope it was not one of ours, and that all three ppl on board are OK latest report looks as if it was way over towards Jersey. 28/03/2011 09:30:00 Condor Vitesse is currently involved in a search and rescue operation in the vicinity of the Minquiers following a possible collision with a fishing vessel. Further updates will be issued as more information becomes available. The ship was en route between St Malo and St Helier, Jersey on Monday 28th March 2011. John
  3. This from Angler's Net: Due to the original ISP (UKOnline) closing down as of 20th Dec .. I have been forced to move the 'Aquarium Project' after 12 years - it can now be found at: http://www.uk-fish.info The site needs a major update having been neglected for several years .. but I guess this may just be the spur to dust down my webmastering skills and update all my sites ( hangs head in shame)..... rolleyes.gif If any one still has links to the UKOnline version of the site (or indeed if anyone even remembers that it's out there) please feel free to update to the link above. Phil

  8. From the BBC news Capsized kayak man treated for hypothermia in Weymouth A 64-year-old man has been treated for hypothermia after his kayak capsized off the Dorset coast. Coastguards were called to help the man who had got into difficulties about 200m (656ft) off Preston Beach in Weymouth shortly on Saturday morning. Weymouth Rowing Club also responded to a call broadcast on the marine radio channel. The man made it to shore but was suffering from hypothermia and was eventually taken home by ambulance bbc article

  10. Mariner 5hp 4 stroke, with tank, serviced before the winter, stored in the dry. It was too heavy for me to safely lift on and off the dinghy, got a 2.5 2 stroke instead.

I must live a sheltered life. I had to look that up. John
  13. Has anyone seen the article that led to this: The Angling Trust would like to stress that sea angling is an integral part of the united, single representative body for ALL anglers. Keith Arthur's recent article in Angling Times which suggested that sea anglers should be 'kicked out' of the Angling Trust is not the view of anyone who works for the organisation, or the volunteers who serve on its Board of Directors. It seems to me to be a pity that an apparently 'famous' voice of angling should take this approach john
  14. Rereading the whole of this thread makes me thoroughly confused. We are leaving Poole on Wednesday the 11th(?)of May, returning on Sunday the 15th(?) I am sorry to be boring, but I have to arrange boarding for my cat, so dates have to be concrete. John

    Twin Batteries

Craig, If you look further in the BEP catalog, they do the two isolating switches, the bridging switch and the VSR as a set, with the correct labels on (house, start and emergency), linked in the form of a square, with bridging links. There is a Poole firm which does ALL BEP stuff, including the hard-to get bits, John
  18. How do you go about reporting a company for misleading advertising? If loads of ppl reported Tesco and Princes, they would have to change. John

    Broadband Radar

It can get a bit more complicated, I am afraid. A digital unit eg Garmin, uses a normal 2 or 4 kW pulse head unit, but the signal is processed digitally to give clearer results, often making automatic some functions which would be difficult adjustments otherwise. A broadband unit uses a totally different way of transmitting the pulse, chirping the signal, which gives lower range but much better close-in performance. negating the close-in blank spot of normal pulse radar (which digital units also have). The perfect situation is to have a digital pulse radar for long range and a broadband for short range. Lowrance had to change their advertising last year to avoid making wrongful claims on performance, now only recommending their's for shorter range. john
