Hi guys Did anyone else see "Britains Really Disgusting Food" BBC 1 10.35 last night (monday). A bit light hearted but with a strong message about the disgusting waste of fish that we all know is being practiced by commercial fishing boats and the inevitable consequences of this if it is not amended. I hope this will help to raise public awareness a bit more. The programme will be on BBC Iplayer shortly! Tight Lines Alan

Now thats just what I want!

OH DEAR. I Tried to start my little old outboard Merc 4hp two stroke and she is not having any of it. (usually reliable). Last time was when flushing in fresh water about November time, and drained fuel until she stopped running. I seem to have a good spark so could it be the fuel has gone off or will the carburettor jets be blocked by now. HELP anybody? Regards Alan

Hi Alun Thank you for your help. I will be pleased to accept your offer to loan me your drogue, at least that way I can get an idea of the size I would need to buy. I will be landbound for the next ten days, but following that and weather permitting I will be able to get afloat again. I live in Hightown Ringwood and would be able to collect anytime to suit yourself. Many Thanks Alan

by: dainichi Posted on: 12-06-2009 @ 12:43 pm Hi guys I have a 12 ft open boat which has a flat botton apart from the curve from stem to stern, she is very stable but having little draft tends to drift with all but the lightest wind (as you would expect) rather than with the tide. My question is if I were to deploy a small drogue from the bow during a drift would this be enough to hold her with the tidal flow or at least more so than at presnt Regards Alan J

Happy Birthday Rob Hope you have a good day! Regards Alan J.

Hi There In my younger days I had several different boats, Starting with a small flat bottom dinghy, I then wanted a larger boat so bought a displacment hull this wasn't fast enough so bought a fast cruiser This proved too expensive to run and was uncomfortuble in anything but calm conditions I finally gave it all up and for many years and pursued other pastimes, but the one boat I missed most was my small Dinghy. I am happy to say I now have another slighty larger small flat dinghy with a 4hp outboard, which I am able to trail and easily self launch, is extreamly economical and great fun. In but a few trips out in the summer myself and my good friend and "First Mate" Rita have caught nine species from the Poole and Christchurch harbours and just outside in the bay, Including a very nice Trigger Fish from Poole Harbour caught and returned by Rita (she ALWAYS manages to catch more than me) though I have to bait the hooks and remove the fish. I just wanted to say, Ive never been happier than I am with my small dinghy, So my advice would be stick with your displacement boat! Kind Regards Alan (an Ancient Mariner)

Hi Dave I used SP 106 Epoxy Resin ealier this year when sheaving "Yamabuki Blue" I found it easy to use (No previous experience) and is available in small packs from Force 4 Chandlery in lower Parkstone, but does require a minimum temperatiue to cure properly. You can use SP microfibres to produce a Filler/ Glue or alternativly fine sawdust. If you just require a glue then EverBuild Lumberjack 30 minute Polyurethane wood adhesive is exellent, is totally waterproof including seawater and is very strong. ( my boat is held together with the stuff) This is available in a tube from In-Exess stores Hope this is of help! Regards Alan (Dainichi)
