there was "her outdoors" there was "my osteopaths dream" because it paid his mortgage and there was almost "my osteopaths nightmare" because it wrecked my back but in practice the wife asked for what proved to be the last one to be called "Hot Love" i was told it was from the marc bolan song of that name that contained the line , she lives by the coast and she's faster than most. for those not from a racing dinghy background i apologise paul i will tell you the story of naming the mrs sea over a pint in alderney greg

is that not the reason to get the bouy on a stop and a long way out in front of the boat before you start moving anything? greg

eastbourne rnli had a shout this week where a yacht picked up a rope around the prop the single handed chap went over the side to clear it, that failed, to have another go he launched his inflatable with no means of propulsion and lost touch with the yacht, fortunatly all this was within sight of the rnli station, all ended well with a cold yachtie in the showers at sovereign, me i have a rule i dont leave the cabin when motoring. and i do have a sharp knife to hand in the cockpit

it is perfectly poss to do it on your own, just make sure that everything is in place , that you plan the stages and dont be afraid to abort and start again if the boat handling bit goes wrong. one thing i have found helps is to get the bouy on its stop well in front of the boat before you start the manoever to pick the rope up and hang it off the back greg

-
glad you all had a memorable trip, had some interesting times myself trying to get there, suffice to say 5 or 6 hours at sea and the boat is currently 60 miles away in chichester. will be aiming for alderney the weekend of the 48 hr comp if peoples want company/ buddy boat well done all greg
-
thank you for the suppourt, i will be going over this year and asap, (car is still in poole so need to get there to get it back) perhaps we can get another trip organised greg
-
many apologies to all but espeacially tom and terry, engine looks lovelly and didnt miss a beat. left eastbourne to lots of white water but the bay ok but having crossed the ledge and passed the head it got a bit silly. tom gave the boat a memorable day a few years back but complained of hitting the roof, well i think , for the first time ever i was hittting the roof, didnt fancy that for the 40 odd miles to chichester let alone the crossing, shame really the down wind surfing home was a doddle. wife had to come and get me but she took me to the local thai restaurant to recover!

nothing will make me happier than to se AWOL in the beam of a spotlight as we come in thursday evening, might even have a glass of red on friday night
-
carefull, some stick and rag chaps are ok, only crossed over to the dark side when the body broke! see you thursday (late) greg
-
not really my choice, (actually thats a bit of an understatement!) engine goes back in tuesday and the crane people wont put it in wednesday so it goes back in thursday 2pm, shake down trip to langstone and then an early evening trip around the channel
-
the mrs sea is fully intending to rest her now shiney engine in braye on thursday night. if she doesnt then there is a person who cant properly pack parts in japan, a certain marine engineer and a crane crew who will all be in need of life insurance. looking forward to meeting you all greg

good luck nigel, at least you have the skills and knowledge to really know what you are doing. the marine industry is mad, my engine is out at the mo and the yard had previously told me that new engine mounts might be a good idea. they phoned me today and said they cost

i have to admit that the thought of a 12-20 kenzaki from alderney makes a nice reward to myself for getting there, not an economic way of saving the postage tho but it would be a lot more rewarding, fingers crossed
-
i find it interesting that no one has gone for the kenzaki rods, i, never haing seen one, have always wondered if they were simply the latest "in" bit of kit greg

as a hated yachtie and thames barge sailor- about 35 years ago, i should have picked an arty farty sailing picture, but as a motor boater and fisher chap wanting to make sure his boat is still moored in braye when he wakes up in the morning went for the marlin! as a person who claims picys as a hobby they were rather challenging be there at the right moment picks so much harder than a few boats going past! -
Charlie, duncan, thank you both,i cant wait to get down there, looking forward to alderney and will have to see about cherbourg. the idea of overnighting some where off dorset had not struck me and certainly sounds interesting. others dont be shy, with luck with the weather there are a few places available greg

folks i am hoping to take a fuller part in club activities this early summer.i am planning that the Mrs Sea will be moored in poole for may and june and i am hoping to get to fish from her 2 or 3 weekends a month. this means that i need help in planing when to come down (bet the weather messes all that up) and where to fish, the quid pro quo is that she will be available for members to have a trip out on. targets for me will be flatties ray tope and bream and to a lessor extent bass. Cod pollack and bass are ok in home waters (eastbourne). mrs sea is a osprey 26 thoughts and advice plus early indications of wanting crew space welcome. i know the weather is going to influence this but at least you guys can get some shelter from swlys many thanks in advance greg
