that comment rather summed up my feelings this morning when i got up and checked the forecast!
but a big thank you to all who helped in the planning, gave advice and offered to be buddy boats.
Greg
ran an 18 raider wheelhouse with a 90 optimax on for four years, up to 110 mile days, apart from a sensor issue was fine. cant comment on others but it seemed qt, didnt use great quantities of expensive oil and would run on tickover for ever.
good luck martin, havnt entirely given up on alderney next week yet but maybe going for the the bream at kingsmere sat! - at least its only 40 miles away
The mrs sea has consulted its crew and is going to adopt plan b3 - go for it on sunday, arrive poole sat, depart sun and come back wednesday, will phone the relevant parties tomorrow when i have sorted work out
greg
my current "i wonder if" thought, and this is dependant on sorting work, was to come to poole sat, cross sun and back wedneday but as said its the f4 to 5 day in between and the thought of a night in braye that puts me off
greg
cheers charlie, i think i will finish getting everything ready and be in touch when we know, at least the northerlies make getting down the coast easier. just beggining to explore getting leave for early next week, may be tricky but might be done.
greg
i am going nuts with tension, just looked at forecast only for the umpteenth time in the last 24 hrs and its loking good for fri and sat! if the blood pressure lasts i might yet make it
greg
well he does now! having consulted with my inner self if i get to alderney and do some fishing and then someone says come for some good scram involving seafood i will be there
greg
Oooo
The "memorable" bit sounds a bit worrying
tom it was fun, instructive, reassuring, painfull- my back and i gather your head, and i can still remember it, so all in all - memorable
ps
and we brought some cod back
all the best
greg
thank you tom, will never forget the time you drove the boat, memorable instructive and great fun
charlie, looking forward to meeting again and sharing a beer (hopefully) in alderney in 6 weeks!
charlie
i would love to bring the mrs Sea down to the west and across, might even be able to offer some fishing space if anyone is mad enough to want to come?

live in bexhill, boat is in sovereign harbour at eastbourne, have only shore fished up to eastbourne but i do love getting under the cliffs at beachy and beyond and trying for a bass for tea.
well i did find the thread on the site earlier today - but up here in the east i dont think i could even hope to compete with the range of species- would have to go and fish brighton marina wall to have even a remote hope!
thank you all for the replies
nice to know i am not the only non local
am going in to work tomorrow to book the may day dates off
boats out at the mo getting ready for a long trip, bring it on and let me go back to a harbour (braye) that i have not slept in for many years
greg
dear all
I have a met a few members around the south coast over the last year or so and fished with one or two of you. finally got my act together and sent off the membership form. sadly my location - east sussex, will limit my participation in poole events but i love poole- have sailed from there for 20+ years before injury made me give up and despareatly hope to join in some club trips, have alderney in may as the first one in the calendar.
many thanks
Greg
