  1. HI Terry Wow! Haddock here in Poole Bay!!! I'd love to have seen that. Never heard of, let alone seen anyone with a Haddock down here. Did you have any pictures as that has to be news worthy! Well done Tom
  2. Good luck with the sale Martin. She certainly is a beautiful looking boat.
  3. Huge Congratulations guys. Well done! I am sort of with Duncan on the water leak, it sounds normal, so long as it's outside and not inside...

    starfish 840

Top boat, a little dated now, but very good and nice and tough. In the same style, consider a Rodman 840. Or, go the whole hog and get a nice Merry Fisher 925!!!

    Speed

Yes, but only in some areas (most regard it as all over). From 1st October to 31st March the restrictions are lifted.
  6. Henry hasn't even got copies of his own programmes. I normally get a copy of the mag sent, but honest, it still gets sent to Salterns.
  7. And scanned copies???
  8. My old sub subcription still goes to Salterns and the bosuns nick it claiming it never arrived....
  9. Any chance someone could scan it and PM it over to me? I got the misses to pop out and buy the mag and she got last months! Also, is there a piece on Polish Boat Building (title will be different)? If there is, could I trouble you for that too?!!! Sorry to be a blagger Tom
  10. Cool Haven't seen it yet as my subscription died with my office at Salterns...
  11. PMS are human and can cock it up like the rest of us, but genuinely decent guys and it sounds like you got yourself a deal. A good jap based 4 stroke, you can't go wrong!
  12. Or unburnt oil trail...

    Boat Show

The wedge being referred to is supplied by Warrior for their 165 as the transom isn't steep enough to allow the engine to trim in beneath the vertical (as a result the boat can potentially porpoise over about 22 knots). The wedge goes between the transom and the outboard and allows a greater degree of downward trim and helps prevent porpoising. The smart tabs drop the bow of the boat further still and should completely alleviate porpoising. Not an big issue, but something to be aware of is that their are times when you want to get the bow of the boat up. In these situations you are a bit scuppered with smart tabs. Adjustable tabs are considerably more expensive, but IMHO worth it to give moer versatile handling.
  14. Below are my opinions and not statements: Tohatsu are noisy smelly, old fashioned, look cheap and worth diddly squat second hand. But they are fantastically reliable and one of the mainstay engines in the third world where service and parts can be hard to come by. They are warrantied for racing, hence zap cat and thunder cat racers the world over tend to use them. If you want a motor that holds no chic, but will plough on through almost anything regardless then this is a very good choice. Etec has the trendy name and marketing behind it and the 300 hours are tempting (but very carefully read the small print), but (IMHO Gordon, Paul et al) still noisy and smelly. More and more outboard service centres are uncomfortable working on them as more little nuances come to light. But, in good order, they are torquie and pretty reliable with, obviously, very cheap maintenance. They are likely to be far more economical than the Tohatsu (still less than a 4s though). Due to the marketing, they will have a far better resale value. If I had to buy one? Assuming I planned to keep it a while and didn't plan to put it on a trendy pilot house, it would be the Tohatsu without a doubt. If I had any choice I'd save a little more and get a Jap based 4 stroke.
  15. Don't know for sure, but if you contact Ewen Hill (forum member here and also at WSF) you may get a top section for nothing (or next to nothing). Ewen is Penn UK's main repair man, based in Scotland. A legend in his own workshop he'll fix any Penn reel and have spare parts for most Penn kit.
  16. I couldn't watch the junk, but apparently he hit it at least once and left it injured?
  17. Nice to meet you too Barney. Genuinely hope you are pleased with the boat and may you have many double figure Bass aboard her! Hope to catch up again with you soon. Tom
  18. ...Can be arranged Rob
  19. Hi Barney No it won't be much more, but they've told me the bottom line and it is a smidgy, tincey whincey bit less (I didn't tell anyone that). Welcome to PBSBAC by the way!
  20. First day at the boat show today an I was chatting to the Warrior boys in between down pours. If you have been in the market for a nice new (or used) 16 foot bot package.... Warrior 165 package with 60Hp Mariner 4s, Colour Fishfinder and VHF.
  21. Did the majority of viewers write in to voice their appreciation? doubtfull as us humans only respond when we are annoyed or upset. Would be interesting to know how many positive against negative responses they have received Martin I did reply Martin, asking how he knew that it was being so well received.
  22. Had a couple of replies today. One from the producers saying thanks and they'd pass on my comments to the actual makers and another fom Steve Gowans at ch5 which was much more detailed, claiming that the majority of the audience enjoyed it and defending their right to show it. It was a standard mass reply as I know a number of people have received the same one.
  23. Of course I did but what fun would it have been to have just accepted it. Terry. Walkies!!!!!
  24. The well known dog trainer? Or perhaps you meant Mrs. Whitehouse SIT! Terry. Oooops! Errrr, not the dog trainer!!!! But you knew what I meant!
