  1. In honesty I would love Jason to buy a boat from me, but those that have actually had proper chats with me will also know that I am happy to offer fairly impartial advice to.... If you are around early next week Jason, pop down to my office at Salterns and we can cat about what is right for YOUR needs. Everything depends on what you actually want to do, how far, how big, how fast, how often etc etc. You'll need to know what sort of budget and so on that you want to invest in a boat and we should be able to steer you in the right direction. If you are thinking of new then the boat shows are a great time to buy as there are always good deals being done. Always haggle as us dealers will generally have something up our sleeve. Another time to buy is the run up to the Southampton Boat Show (now). Dealers will have the last of their '05 / '06 stock kicking about and we need to shift it. Honest dealers will tell you that they have to shift the boats, others will just give you a discount, either way you can save a fair few
  2. Yesterday I handed over a new boat to a chap, his family and mate all of whom may well soon be on the scene as new club members. Really nice guys and they seemed extremely pleased with their boat. Part of our hand over is some proper tuition from a local sea school, as we were prepping the boat for the tuition we were discussing their experience and they anounced they had RYA level 2. Excellent, I thought, these guys will have no problem. HOWEVER On chatting further it seems they went for a bargain course that set them back just
  3. Already in my front window at work
  4. I think the point here regardless of whether it is a private or charter boat is will you bother to go to Alderney / Guernsey for 2 Turbot / Brill for well ovr
  5. Look at the Navman range. Easy to use, good cartography and very clear screens. Several sizes available and good after sales if you have a problem and can narrow own what it is. Price is not the VERY cheapest, but is very competitive.
  6. Good luck Dom! .... bl00dy nutter!
  7. I notice that at this time it only seems to refer to Charter Angling Vessels and not private Angling Vessels. I have to say that I certainly would not go over to Alderney and pay well over
  8. Hi Terry Nice hols mate, nothing exotic, just a week in Pembrokeshire with my family. Still in the old flat, but soon to be very posh and living on "The Peninsular" in a flat that is slightly smaller in square footage, but much better condition and an extra bedroom for just
  9. Absolutely Superb ROFLMAO Can we now just put it to bed please!
  10. Wonderful Lottiwhatever Maye you should post it somewhere where people care
  11. A good chart plotter and card for the central English Channel. You have a pretty capable boat so you may also want to ivnest in one of the local books of wrecks like "Dive Dorset". The other guys will suggest other books. Also a chart for Poole Harbour as some parts can be pretty hairy as I know only too well. Tom
  12. Well done AJ, I'd love to get a trigger one day.

    Hi Folks

Welcome to the finest club in the South. You'll have a great time with this lot, but you must be able to take the mickey and give as good as you get. Tom
  14. I had kind of been forwarned by Adam as when we arrived he was full of convenient comments like "thought there would have been more water than that" and "give it another hour and you'll be able to walk out". It wasn't really a surprise, but certainly a real eye opener. Tom PS: Still think you are all loonies!
  15. No comment to Fred apart from those tupperware boxes do everyting a Cyclone can for about a quarter (or less) of the price! Thanks Mike! That lot is just a typical year for me out of Salterns....
  16. starting to realise I am not doing things the same as you guys - clearly to my detriment! great report Adam - and don't forget Tom's used to a whole load of underwater gear that wouldn't appreciate 6".................. I personally preferred to whistle my joeys back onboard. Duncan Adam and I had exactly that conversation about the pros and cons of bigger V smaller boats. Actually discussed not wanting to keep a boat like Quest II in Christchurch due to the bar.
  17. There aren't many bars I am able to resist without passing by, but this particular bar is one of them. Tom
  18. Adam I loved every minute of it. We seem to have a some very similar ideas about tactics, catch and release (what you want and keep some if you want), fishing generally, boats and weather. A superb day, the Bass following as they did was a revelation, as was your "Tarpon". It didn't matter what method you used in the shallow water, but most of all the light gear made the sport top notch. When BW was bumping bottom coming out of the run in 5 knots of tide I didn't say you are all mad, the words were "you are all f@cking loonies". Geat day mate, thank you for the invite, roll on Thursday! Tom
  19. I'll tell you this much..... ..... I just had the most delicious fillett of the freshest Bass for my lunch. MMmmmMMM
  20. Well done Mike Looks like you have had a good few days Tom
  21. I was lucky enough to get an invite from Adam to join him on BW. The original plan was a day sharking, but the wind put pay to that. An early start saw Adam and me meeting at Mudeford at 05:00 and lets just say it was a tad breezy with the forecast from the coast guard over the VHF giving N to NW 5 to 6 occasionally 7. Back at the slip by 11:30, I'll let Adam tell you rest..... Tom
  22. Welcome onboard Hotshot. Dive in, ask questions, get involved and you'll be made very welcome. All the best Tom
  23. Ifyou were a comemrcialfisherman and now needed to change your nets to try and minimise the number of small fish caught (and thrown back dead!).
  24. I know what you used, I was talking about "little Rup"
