  1. Hi Martin, We are looking at boats all the time - but its the same old problem of having one but not actually using it - the FPO and kids taking up all my spare time ha ha! We will no doubt get another one in the next few years though - but something about 14' that is easy to trail around and not too spacious on our folks drive way! Both of us are well, lots going on as ever but not enough fishing - Dan has got himself a little kayak that he has done a bit of fishing from but still early days with the experience on it - ill probably get one for next year as well! Be good to catch up with everyone again at some point. Dom
  2. Hi ladies & gents - it has been some 3 years since I last visited this site (I think). I don't know why either, I guess its since we sold our boat and I lost touch with the boat fishing world! Well I am back now and thought I would send a quick hello to everyone that has no doubt been missing me for the last 3+ years :-) It would be good to catch up with a few faces soon as well - I may even make a cheeky trip to a meeting soon! Fish Onnnnnn! Regards Dommyboy!
  3. So is anyone else heading out tomorrow? I have not been out for so long that I would ideally like a buddy boat if I was to go out as the conditions are not looking too spectacular...would liek a few expert opinions on what your thoughts are on weather for tomorrow? Windguru seems inconsistent.....HELP!!!!! Dom
  4. Hi guys, I was looking at weather yesterday and Saturday looked good...how things can change! I was looking at a trip out for my first trip since January but now looks like its going to blow up so not ideal. Is the Solent worth a trip for Cod or should I save my time and money and wait until next time? Thanks fella's Dom
  5. Hi Lofty, I was speaking to a retired charter skipper last week who was telling me that he regularly drifts inshore in-front of Milford Shingle Bank at this time of the year and has plenty of Ray. He was saying that he was only a few hundred yards off the shore.....! Might be worth a go. I have had Ray, Sole, Turbot etc etc from the shore there so no doubt you'll pick them up if you drift for them properly! Tight lines. Dom
  6. Hi guy. Thanks for all your tips here. I have isolated and removed the VRO system and now running her on a 50:1 pre-mix. She runs like a dream and no poxy alarm. Now just need some decent weather for our maiden voyage! Thanks Dom
  7. This was taken on my way to work this morning between Bransgore & Ringwood......so much for the droughts!!!!

    Marine Timber

Hi guys One of my colleagues is looking to restore a boat and he is struggling to find Marine timber suppliers locally. They apparently need it for the internal fitting out. Your help is gratefully received. Thanks gentlemen!!! Dom
  9. Hi guys, I came across this site today which gives the numbers of a few wrecks locally around the IOW. Has anyone fished any of these and if so are they worth a go? http://www.chippenhamdivers.co.uk/lookup/sfx_3_s.htm Dom

  18. Thanks guys. Charlie, ive got the bug back again so will make the most of this year. Going to get out loads more this year! Ive been focusing on lakes and rivers this year so think i need to focus on boats and the sea again. See you on the water guys. Dom
  19. A recent trip out with Jamie, aboard his boat 'Big Wednesday' with his dad joining us aswell saw us heading to Dolphin Sands in a big tide. Dropped the anchor and found ourselves drfting as the pick wouldnt hild. We put more rope out which did the trick. After finally settling in and 2lb of lead used to hold bottom we eventually started to catch a few fish. Jamies dad landed the smallest conger ever about 4-5lb before a few dogs kept us busy. As the tide slacked at high water i dropped down some baited feathers tipped with slivers of macky found the whiting straight away. A few nice ones....and a bumper 4lber graced the boat. Next drop a nice 4lb bass finds the feathers followed soon after by another good bass of 8lb. A few more whiting and pout...and obligatory dogs later found the tide turn and ebb quickly. 2lb of lead now not holding so we headed back to base. All fish returned to fight another day. Great boat and nice winter sunshine in good company. Thanks Jamie & co. Dom
  20. I echo PJ's comment! I met with David last month for lunch (thanks PJ for the intro re the AT scheme) and we spent a good couple of hours withi his boss just putting the world to rights and discussing the AT and what they do. He really does know his stuff and is an attribute to the Trust. Thanks Dom
  21. Pleased to say my boat at NHYC is insured all year round, will provide details if anybody interested. Good news Chris. Unfortunately, i'm sure that there will be some guys with inadequate cover here, especially the guys who insure directly with the insurers rather than a broker with knowledge of the area. If anyone needs to discuss cover, feel free to ask me and i'll confirm for you. Thanks Dom Fowler Penfold Marine Insurance Brokers 01202 854557
  22. Another thing to consider if you are to moor your boat there is the insurance element, many insurance companies will exclude cover in Parkstone Bay or North Haven etc between 01/11 - 31/03 annually due to its exposure to weather. If you are unaware then check your policies guys as these are very common exclusions for the area. If not excluded then there could well be a condition that between those dates your boat will need to be kept on a pontoon mooring..... ....DONT WORRY GUYS WHO HAVE YOUR BOAT INSURED WITH ME, Those of you who insure your boat with me are fine, I make sure that I choose the correct insurers for individual needs so you are adequately covered and the mooring period exclusion is not in the policy! Thanks Dom
  23. Hi guys I've been off the scene for a while but hoping to get back in the swing of things. I moved on from my previous company about 8 months ago and I now work for Portmore Insurance Brokers, coincidentally with Martin's (Maverick) nephew Adrian. We generally do standard commercial and corporate insurance for business and tradesmen but also do a lot of Marine. Should anyone be interested in chatting about any insurance let me know, club rates! Dommyboy
  24. The guy who invented the Window Sill........What a Ledge!!!!!! You heard about the new condom?? The 007........? ........It makes you Roger Moore!!! I went shopping yesterday for camoflauge jacket.....I couldn't find one anywhere!!!
  25. Any time Jamie. The benefits of using a broker is we can access insurers and markets others cant/dont use. Also in the event of a claim you get the help from your broker who acts with your interests first rather than the insurer. Glad I could help and good doing business with you. As ever, if anyone would like a quote on their boat please allow me the chance to save you money....especially as members of PBSBAC get a 10% saving on standard rates minimum. Give me a call Dom 01202 854557 or 07557 854811. Attending the next PBSBAC meeting if anyone a quote.
