The expense account best be good as I want some perks!!!! Well i'm only in my 2nd week here after the wonderful redundancy from my last job put paid to that......but seems OK so far. It has a good rep and has between 1/4-1/5th of the whole marine market for insurance so its a busy place to work....if not small! Am yet to find out how boring or interesting it is! Oh well, we'll see! Im sure I will meet up with you at the Southampton boat show later in year and we will meet for a cheeky pint!!!! Dom

I agree with what you have said about lack of customers, my boss is hearing the same stories, but hey its a free day out for me....get in!!!! Mixed day to say the least. Nice easy launch but the bar was a bit of a surprise (fair play to the guys who went out the previous day), managed to hit the bar twice just going out but once clear was no problem, headed to xray as knew that there would be mega tackle losses on the ledge. Nice chilled fishing on xray and action from the off aswell, dogs a plenty, pout, couple of small bull huss, a solitary whiting about 2lb, then my dad gets his first ever conger about 25lb which went off at the side of the boat and takes out all the other 3 lines aswell, never seen a conger on xray before, weather turned very eerie when the fog came in which also brought with it the NE wind which froze us to the core with the boat swinging there were tangles galore so we went down to 1 rod each to make it easier both laiden with 3-4 squid. After numerous more small fish, it was my turn to get my chance of a better fish.....sods law my rod arcs over as I have a flask in 1 hand with a steaming cup of hot water in the other. By the time I put these down without scolding myself my reel is screaming and I lift into it, good fish which pretty sure was a Cod which spits the hook after about 10 seconds, that was my only chance of the day, at last knockings my Dad hits into a good fish and after a good scrap brings up a 14lb+ cod. All in all a nice day but cold and too many small fish but it kept us busy I suppose. Dom

Looks like potentially a trip could be on the cards for saturday morning early doors. If all goes well then maybe head out of christchurch 1st light for a trip round the head after billy bass!!!!!!! Fingers crossed! Dommy

Guys, im appealing to youe better nature!!!!!! My 3rd phone in the last 2 months has gone k-put .......has anyone a spare phone (O2) that a poor phoneless me can have!!!!!!!! I not going to keep buying them for my kids to put in the dogs water bowl (yep twice in 2 weeks)! In return for some top tips on how to not catch anything around our waters LOL!!!! Dommy

Cheers for your response guys, regards to welding, we know a few who can weld it for us, we have the bits to rebuild the trailor, like winch, suspension units, hitch, mounting struts etc, we just need the main section and axel, or the metal for the job, if anyone knows anyone in the steel trade give them a a shout on our behalf and see whats about, we would like to buy a 2nd hand one, but we both got a very limited budget (each having 2 kids 'n all) so if we can rebuild one then all good. Cheers fellas. Indeed it was a fantastic weekend and even managed to sneak a few hours fishing in sunday night off xray....enough about that though as wasnt amazing ha ha! Long may this weather continue!!!

Well I like it and as people say its for entertainment and not for the serious angler, at the end of the day it makes a change for fishing on tele to be available for terrestrial tele and not just Sky. Surely any publicity for our sport (however corny) is good publicity. Ok he's a gash angler but he's entertaining to watch and the public love him so why not take it as it comes. I was out early sat morning but back on the slip by 11, I had engine problems too but only 1st thing but I reckon this was because it was rediculously cold and the engine wasnt to keen on playing ball in those conditions either. ANyway we eventually got out to xray after breaking 2" of ice in mudeford quay around the slip for a few measly LSD's.....agree fella's I should have stayed in bed too as now need to rebuild my browny points! Glad you guy's got in safely and hope the boat is up and running soon. Will call it a day for the boat now until the spring and Ill concentrate on a bit of piking/chubbing on the rivers for a couple of months! Dom

Hi guys, I am having a play with the electrics on the boat soon and want to get our VHF working. We brought it 2nd hand through the club (sorry I cant remember who from....Dan will know) and installed it etc. The problem is that when we are at sea with it on the alarm/call signal keeps going off. Do we have to get the old MMSI number deleted or transferred to our own info or what. Also Dan tells me the fuse keeps blowing so any helpers with advise would be appreciated......Paul D, or Chris (AKA thats_a_biggin), or anyone else. Thanks in advance guys! Dommy

I might be heading out early saturday for a few hours out of mudeford, going to try xray again as got a sneaky feelin it could throw up a surprise cod, but there's always a chance of a ray or 2. If I go ill be launching 1st light and heading back in bout 11ish in time for footy. Just depending if the slipway will be too icy to get in & out..... Will keep ya posted! Dom
