Hi guys, Thanks for your posts here and it's good to see some of you are coming to us for quotes etc. We do try to be as accomodating as possible and we have agreements from insurers that PBSBAC referals get a discounted rate than others, that coupled with us removing our broker fee should hopefully save a few quid from competitors. I worked for Towergate Marine as a Marine Trades Underwriter for a few years and I know their policy inside out and I admit they are good, yet at the same time they don't claim to be the cheapest either. Towergate Mardons in Shrewsbury have a good established set up too, but their markets are very slim based on the fact they have set binders with only 2 insurers so they cannot go open market where as independent brokers like ourselves can and we can go to say 6 insurers directly thus getting quotes across the board. I used to underwrite policies for Mardons so know them very very well, but as a fellow member and a local marine broker it would be nice to see a few more of you guys n gals checking us out and seeing what we are made of lol www.fowlerpenfoldmarine.com 01202 854557 As I said, its good to see some of you guys are coming to us and I hope we can offer our insurance knoweldge to you and save you some money..... Thanks Dom Fowler Penfold Marine

HI Jason, Thanks for your input, I have spoken with our 'Tech Geek' lol, he has tried it on Iphone4, Samsung Galaxy, HTC and 2 other andriod type phones......SO, he has asked the following: "can you ask him what phone and what version of chrome? I see it fine on my phone (HTC Desire), and chrstinas iPhone 4 and James Iphone 3GS , I also see it fine on Google Chrome that I have just downloaded (12.0.742.122) It would be very handy to know a little bit more about the problem" Can you try it again as I know he was putting a fix in the system earlier today so you may have crossed over. Let me know hoe you get on. Thanks Dom

Hi guys, Just reading your posts and appreciate your views, and Mr Chairman sir, one apologises for this and I have consulted with our web developer guy onsite and made him aware of the fact that you are a serial site abuser lol. Seriously though, I would rather know the teething site problems sooner rather than later so thanks for letting me know. SO.....If you would like to let me know anything about you or your boat then best bet to drop me an email...... dominic.taylor@aoig.co.uk Then I will give you a call back and have a chat..... Thanks fella's. Dom

Hi guys, Incase you never saw Paul's introduction post in the 'Forum & Site Talk' section, I thought i would intrduce my Marine Insurance Brokerage on here. We have sponsored a few bits and bobs to club for the privelage of advertising on here. We are based in Ferndown and part of a large established insurance company, however with my Marine Insurance experience I have now turned from Marine Underwriter to Marine Broker. We are trading as Fowler Penfold Marine (www.fowlerpenfoldmarine.com) and we specialise in Marine Trades insurance as our core product, this is your Marine Engineers, Repairers, Boatbuilders, Marina's, Boatyards, Chandleries etc etc, we also provide cover for private craft like yours, we directly access a large panel of Marine Insurance comapnies and have agreed exclusive rates due to closely built relationships with them over the years. So......I would love if you could take a look at the site and I have agreed lower lower rates for club members, if I can save you money I will so let me know if you would like to discuss any aspects of cover or would like a quote. PM me here or contact me on 01202 854557 or 07557 524811 and I would be more than happy to advise you. Many thanks. Dom AKA Dommyboy

Hi fella's, Thanks firstly to the webhosts (Paul in particular) for allowing us to advertise, I have agreed with him to sponsor a couple of bits and bobs for the honour or being on the home page (FP Marine). We are an independent Marine Insurance brokerage with access to the entire marine market. We are part of the A-One Insurance group which have been going since 1993 and are very established. Please visit the site and I would appreciate your honest thoughts (positive and negative) www.fowlerpenfoldmarine.com As I have stated to Paul, I will be more than happy to look at discussing your Marine Insurance, both Private Craft and Marine Trades (Marine Engineers, Boatyards etc etc). I head up the division so will no doubt be able to provide extremely competitive terms, I will make sure that if I can beat your current price I will do so as much as I can! If you want to chat about anything please call me on 01202 854557 (9-5 m-f) or 07557 524811 any time. I hope to be hearing from you soon and I will negotiate some top deals to club members!!!!!!! Thanks to Little Sal for the plug, I think you dealt with one of my colleagues in my absence. Many thanks Dom Taylor AKA - Dommyboy

Hi guys, I haven't had a huge number of dealings with Porthcawl, except I know Steve Knipd their will always sub broke his commercial marine business to a more experienced marine broker, not sure why he does this as he is losing out...maybe he is not too sure on the product or industry, pleasurecraft wise he may see this as a simpler product based on the same as car insurance etc! Noble Marine I know have recently been brought by RSA which is a top marine insurer so they will always be good if not always cheap! As with anything you get what you pay for, deal with a non marine broker expect a crap service and claims experience, yet deal with someone in the know expect not to get any nasty surprises!!! I have started at FP Marine now and getting things in motion! Hoping to start writing business very soon. From a professional point of view I am not going to bad mouth any other broker or insurer, purely state what I know and why! if anyone wants quotes etc feel free to let me know and I'll be more than happy to broke directly to the main marine insurers. Thanks Dom

Hi gents, after agreement from web hosts, I thought i'd give a subtle "plug" for my new marine insurance division based in Ferndown. I am heading up a division called FP Marine Insurance Brokers and the website will be up and running shortly, a link will found on the home page here soon and discounts will be available to members etc! It will be all things mariney, yacht and pleasurecraft through to large commercial trade risks like marinas, boatyards boat builders and commercial hull etc! Regards Dom

Hi Neal, what yard was your boat stored in? Reason for me asking Is that if your boat was in the care, custody and control of the boatyard then the boatyard should have a contingency business insurance! The boat insurance should have a yacht yard indemnity extension under it that should pick up an all risks type cover for third party boats in their custody or control! I am starting up a marine insurance brokerage this Tuesday so I will be able to help you all out with your boat insurance etc! I know the Market inside out so will gives club rates if required! Already spoken to webhost and going to try to get something on the home page with my company info giving discounted rates through the link!!!!

Right guys here goes....... I am a marine insurance underwriter (commercial) so thought i'd put id pop a quick note with my thoughts! "Inland & Coastal Water" that means a maximum of 12 miles off......a question i often get is "what happens if im going to Channel Islands as thats more than 12 miles off the mainland coast and the CI icoast....the bit in the middle needs cover to be extended.....if you needed this then youd need to ask your broker (i'll come to this in a moment) to extend your policy to cover "Brest to Elbe", this should be done at No Extra Premium so when asking for new cover say you want brest-elbe from inception, as some of you have pointed out though if you need to go more than 12 miles offshore elsewhere (i.e west coast) then you'd need to extend your cruising range to say 20 miles and again this should not really be charged. I am heading up my own new Marine Insurance Brokerage Division for a large insurance broker locally who want to start Marine in a couple of weeks and i'll be broking both commercial marine business and private & plesurecraft (well anything marine orientated actually) so having an indepth knowledge of the market and insurers etc i will if required cover your boats at "mates Rates"......watch this space and ill keep you posted. Hope Webhosts dont mind my kind of "Plug" here (as you can see i have not given company name or numbers etc to avoid any potential queries), but thought that being a member etc and seeing that there is some confusion re cover etc, i thought perhaps an expert eye and advice on things may come in handy. If Webhosts want to speak to me re sorting out "special rates" for club members then this may be arranged!!!! Let me know. Dom

Whether Conservative, Liberal or Labour , I think you'll get a kick out of this! A little boy goes to his dad and asks, 'What is Politics?' Dad says, 'Well son, let me try to explain it this way: I am the head of the family, so call me The Prime Minister. Your mother is the administrator of the money, so we call her the Government. We are here to take care of your needs, so we will call you the People. The nanny, we will consider her the Working Class. And your baby brother, we will call him the Future. Now think about that and see if it makes sense.' So the little boy goes off to bed thinking about what Dad has said. Later that night, he hears his baby brother crying, so he gets up to check on him. He finds that the baby has severely soiled his nappy. So the little boy goes to his parent's room and finds his mother asleep. Not wanting to wake her, he goes to the nanny's room. Finding the door locked, he peeks in the keyhole and sees his father in bed with the nanny.. He gives up and goes back to bed. The next morning, the little boy say's to his father, 'Dad, I think I understand the concept of politics now. ' The father says, 'Good, son, tell me in your own words what you think politics is all about.' The little boy replies, 'The Prime Minister is screwing the Working Class while the Government is sound asleep. The People are being ignored and the Future is in deep shit.'
