After a long period of time using Star Turn as a driveway ornament, the time has come to get her back to a useable condition.
Looking at the trailer, it needs all sorts of bits replaced, probably most things other than the actual chassis, which is absolutely fine.
I would do this, but the trailer was never really big enough for the boat anyway, so I figure I'd be better off looking out for a decent 'correct' trailer, and moving mine on as a project for someone to refurbish.
New ones look lovely, but are out of my budget,
So I'm on the lookout for a trailer for a heavy (I reckon easily 850kg with fuel on board) 18' Shetland Family Four, please.
So it must be braked.
Also I'd very much prefer rollers, as the old one had bunks which brought launch and recovery challenges in anything except perfect conditions.
There's no rush, (as Star Turn is going to get a bit of a tidy up this year) but if you know of a good trailer for sale, please let me know!

Yep, these are prototype research units that have been deployed. 3D printed in concrete to give structural strength but provide habitat for marine wildlife. They’ve put out a few units of different shapes/structures/habitats. Here’s a couple of pics which belong to Alice

This is Alice’s latest research project, an advancement on what she’s spoken to us about before where they are trying to design and enrich artificial structures so that they are better for marine wildlife.
I might be able to get her to come and talk to us about it once the world returns to some form of normality...

Sorry guys, I’m not going to make it tonight.
I was going to report that on Dec 17th 2019 the 2020 Bass Regs we’re agreed in Brussels. In 2020 the bag limit will be 2 fish, with the season running from 1st March to 30 November.
As in previous years, this hasn’t been ratified yet, but once it has I’ll let you know.

Good luck guys. There are some studies going re the current state of founders, so I'd be grateful if you could all put up a quick post of how you get on, so I can feed it back. Tight lines!

In that case the Annears give their Apologies now, as we'll be out of club waters next weekend.
Tight lines!

Was hoping to beg a ride out with my 2 (last year as a junior for Sam?) if anyone is feeling charitable, please?
But, it's currently looking a bit blowy on Saturday. Depends whether it comes in earlier on Thurs/Fri, or ends up lasting all weekend I suppose?

Regardless of whether you think the rig is good or bad, you might expect it to do what it is authorised to do. Well, it does whatever it likes apparently!

Please consider responding to the consultation that DEFRA are running on bringing in a requirement for the under 10 metre commercial fleet to record their landings.
As they currently don't have to, the MMO are unable to enforce their landing gear regulations.
As a result, CEFAS estimate real landings to be 3 to 10 times the MMO figures.
To respond, you will need to answer question 7 in the pdf by emailing catchrecording@marinemanagement.org.uk by the deadline of 1 April 2019.

The problem is they quoted 6700 tons of chemicals initially. It’ll be at least double that now. So that’s 16 tons of biocide. It’s for bacterial control, but who knows what else it’ll affect?

I have received the following from Robert Clark, Chief Executive of the SIFCA (as a member of the RASG) at 17:45 today:
Recreational Limit on seabass
The European Commission has considered a proposal for a Council Resolution amending Regulation (EU) 2018/120 as regards fishing opportunities for European seabass. The proposal is to introduce a daily bag limit of one fish per day for recreational fishermen applicable in October – December 2018 amending the current restriction. Once that amendment has been published in the official journal the regulation will apply directly.
Once published Southern IFCA shall raise awareness of the regulation change. I am advised that the MMO will also update their website.
The proposal is as a consequence of new evidence revising down the estimate of bass mortality associated with recreational fishing (as we discussed at our recent meeting) and also because of the socio and economic importance of the species to bass anglers.
A positive development!
As far as I can see, the document that has been linked to is, as it says on it's title page, the proposal, and not the Official Journal.

With all the previous regs, the new regs are approved but it takes a while for the enforcement powers to catch up, and until they do the old regs are still in force.
There are a few weeks to go before we get to Oct 1st, so hopefully that will be long enough.
Until any changes are publicised by AT, SIFCA etc, I would advise members to stick to the old regs.

Clear as Mud.... AGAIN
It's pretty clear.
We aren't allowed to take any Bass.
But it will be discussed later this month.
If we are allowed to take Bass after that we'll be notified by the official bodies. Probably not via memes with typos on Facebook.

Hold your horse mackerels everyone.
It’s not genuine... yet.
However, it is being discussed later this month, so might happen.
AT are asking people to support them in their campaign for this and provide a template letter to write to your MP, here: https://www.anglingtrust.net/news.asp?itemid=4563&itemTitle=Angling+Trust+calls+for+Bass+Bag+Limit+to+be+restored§ion=29§ionTitle=Angling+Trust+News

Only just seen this. Didn’t realise we were rescheduling as I thought in previous years we said if a weekend was off, it was off...
Anyway, the Annear’s are away camping (and maybe shore fishing) this weekend, so good luck to those who can get out

Only just seen this.
The Annear boys can’t play on the revised dates as we’re away this weekend.
