  1. You could still join the club, no need to own a boat!

Then perhaps come out on a boat from time to time when you're feeling a bit lazy!

BTW, did we see you by the groynes off Mudeford on Sunday- orange yak, man with a very bendy fishing rod?

  2. I was gong to suggest that but didn't want to put Simon off a sale!

But seeing as Charlie C has brought it up - there are a lot of smaller scale chaps such as myself who would love such a club asset.

  3. Hi Simon

I want it but do I need it! I can see it's an absolute bargain and ice flaker of the dogs whatsits standards. I think for the frequency that I manage to get out, and the size of my ice-box, this is overkill a bit for me. It's a shame but I can't really argue it with the FPO! weep.gif

Sorry to muck you around and I'm happy to go to the bottom if the list!

  4. Charlie i take it that your silence is a no?

    let me know

    Hi Simon

Just been thinking about it really. It's obviously a great opportunity!

Are all your hospital cases likely to be about this much to fix and have this kind of capacity, or this one more of a one-off?

    C.

  5. WOW, I never realised there was so much skill involved to this! I've been feverishly reading as much as I can. There's so much info out there and the more I read the more confused I'm becoming.
  6. I couldn't determine where the air was escaping from in my lifejacket, and like Pete I was most distressed in that the worst affected one was my one. Anyone whoI have been out with will know that I wear it all the time without fail- but it seems I would have been in trouble if I'd gone in the drink!

In fact Pete, it's a good job everything turned out fine when we were both out on your boat as we'd both have been consciensciously wearing our lifejackets and slowly sinking!!

Anyway, I sent 2 lifejackets off on Thurs 12th and got a parcel from Seago on Tues 17th- not a bad service at all.

Can't say the same for Business Post though- why are couriers so bloody awkward?! I was away in Jersey, they only hold parcels for 5 days and they won't deliver to an alternative address!

Thankfully they held on to it until yesterday, Di collected it and I opened it to find 3 brand new lifejackets complete with gas and crutch straps! So I too now have a couple of spare cylinders, crutch straps and storage bags.

The observant amongst you will see that I am VERY pleased with this outcome! wink.gifbiggrin.gifcool.gif

  7. I'm pretty sure that they don't fire over the weekends at this time of year.

When I used to take field work trips there.....weekdays were always blocked, weekends were always OK.

    Alun.

Times have changed though. There are published dates as to when the ranges will be open to the public (i.e no firing), but if the Army decides more practice is required then the ranges might be used. All MOD ranges are in use far more often these days- always check!

"Information about the range walks can be obtained from the Range Control Office (0900-1630 hrs Mon-Fri and during the weekends when the ranges walks are closed), Tel: 01929 462721 ext 4819/4859; or from the Guard room at any time, Tel: 01929 462721 ext 4824. "

"Offshore the sea danger area extends up to six nautical miles offshore between Lulworth Cove and St. Aldhelm's (St. Alban's) Head. Vessels are asked to keep out of the area at firing times. Full details can be found in the leaflet The Lulworth Ranges - Information for Mariners 2006"

  8. Di phoned Seago to find out if there was a freepost address (hey, I'm careful wth my money! rolleyes.gif ) and was advised that rather than sending in all lifejackets that have a manufacturing date within one of the specified periods, we should first carry out the following: (Because so far very few are actually defective)

    -Remove the gas canister

    -Manually inflate the lifejacket

If the lifejacket goes flat overnight, return with a covering letter (asking for postage refund) to the address on the website.

A repacement jacket will be sent out and the possible postage refund is, of course, dealt with by a different department!

Typically out of 6 jackets we have 3 of the affected date.

Mine goes flat almost straight away. Had to be mine didn't it!

Di's goes flat, but slower. (It's OK, women have more air with which to reinflate. laugh.gif

    Dad's seems fine.

    Get puffing gents! biggrin.gif
