  1. Mate, I was in tears of laughter reading that! laugh.gif

    So was the wife! rolleyes.gif

This morning I feel like I ran a marathon- who knew so many muscles were required to heave!

I really enjoyed the fishing, just not the spewing sick.gif And many thanks to Tom, Rich and Sam for tackling me up and giving me tips throughout the day- some of them on fishing!

I'm off to Boots now to get some remedies for the next trip out... cool.gif

Tom- can you post that recipe for Bass please? Got a bit of a raging appetite today, can't think why...

  2. An hour in the tackle shop on Saturday morning with the credit card and I left with a carrier bag full of all sorts of bits of metal, plastic and rubber- hopefully it's the right stuff!

Hopefully by this time tomorrow I'll have a few pb's under my belt... not hard when you've never caught anything before laugh.gif

  3. Nope!

Saturday was an hour in Poole Sea Angling Centre, then off to a wedding at the Haven, although we did get out on the water as the day included a harbour cruise. Loads of boats out there, including Bliss II which we passed by the chain ferry. There was also a fab gunboat out there which I have tracked down here

Yesterday was a garden party which was a bit of a washout, and the football didn't help much...

Oh well, the sun should be back tomorrow when we go out with Admiral Bettle cool.gif

  4. Put me down for Tuesday please Tom.

Thanks for giving a kit list as that would have been my next question rolleyes.gif

I've got a rod, I've got a reel, but I haven't got much of that other stuff, but already scheduled a visit to Poole Sea Angling on Saturday morning... I told you I was a novice! biggrin.giflaugh.gif

Happy to drive us to and from Weymouth if that is any help.

  5. I suspect that the offence that Mad Mike just shouted out for us is to put off hoarders rather than boaters isn't it?

After all, surely fuel that is stored in a fuel can, manufactured for the purpose of storing fuel isn't a safety risk. blink.gif

  6. Thanks guys! 33 doesn't seem too bad so far...

Had Thursday off to go to the Royal Cornwall Show- cracking weather and jam packed with stands and exhibitors (distinct lack of fishing stands this year though), excellent to see there's some money in the Cornwall again- a few years ago it was looking grim.

Then back to Dorset on Friday and in the afternoon we went to see Bon Jovi at St Mary's. cool.gif

Had visitors coming to stay on Saturday so still not finished Star Turn as I had to do some domestics, but compensated with a BBQ and one or two (or ten) cold tinnies... into the early hours of Sunday.

A couple of hours kip and then down to the beach with our visitors where the sea was pretty busy with boats of all shapes and sizes.

Have got quite a good stock of brownie points now so shouldn't be long before I'm out and about! Mind you, I was saying that at Easter mad.gif

    Now back at work. weep.gif

  7. The Lilliput parrots sometimes make it to the top of the hill in Parkstone too, seen in the road opposite the Labour club- and not just after a few pints of San Miguel!

    biggrin.gif

For a few years there were a pair of bright green parakeets too, but haven't seen them yet this year.

  8. Well, despite the lack of responses, Mum is off to this mysterious source this afternoon (Trago, for those of you who know of it smile.gif ) and assuming they have any left we'll get a couple.

I guess we can call this a product test! biggrin.gif

  9.

Stand on the engine fins and use the tilt switch on the side of the engine to lift you up out of the water.

Cool.... got to try this. cool.gif

I'm off to try barebacking my outboard now.

Think I'll stick to using the ladder wink.gif

Or asking my mate in the boat to give me a hand biggrin.gif

  10. Charlie, think of it this way, when the motor is on, and if it has a charging circuit, it pumps electricity back from the motor to the battery, the flow is continous, as long as the engine is turning it generates electricity. If you break the circuit, by switching it to off, you are taking out the recipient i.e., battery, the current has nowhere to go but go back and blow your rectifier....... this is how the Merc man explained to me.

Turning off ignition, your engine also dies, so no electricity being generated.

    So:

Igntion turns off ignition circuit, engine dies and therefore charging circuit dies.

Turning off battery switch breaks the charging circuit causing feedback that will damage rectifier.

Sorry to go on, and on, and on...

It's funny how we see different scenario, you see it in a safty point of veiw while I see it as:

Boat on trailer on driveway, need to tilt up motot to get underneath it, tried tilt switch, it doesn't work cos I switch it off, get step from garage, hop on board, switch to on, jump down, hurt my ankle as a result, swearing loudly cursing every single thing in the immediate surrounding.......... laugh.gif

    Ha ha!

Luckily I can reach the switch from outside of the boat, standing on terra firma.

Now someone's going to tell me why that's a bad idea... rolleyes.gif
