I think that possibly people are having trouble as they were / are still using the old URL. I have therefore stopped this from being used ( it redirects to the new page ). I could have moved the whole lot in one go, but better to play safe as I ddint want to destroy the site I will look at the catch reporting script Charlie as it is set up currently to send to me. I also need to write something to allow the Members Fish catch pages to be updated more readily ( but only 24 hours in a day etc. ) If anyone has any comments then keep em coming. cheers Paul

It is not too hard to pick up really. The site will be same as before ( and old content is still available here :- Old Website Content Over the next few weeks we will be migrating the content from the old site into this new site. The new site allows users to submit stories ( ie. Articles for publication ) using the "Submit Story" link. There is now a "E-Mail Catch Report" button - so no excuse for not submitting those catch reports ( cue some quip from Jack here ). There is a "Write Catch Report" link to tell all on the forum about that big catch. and the one I think will be really useful is the "Journal" option where you can post messages about what you have been fishing for / caught etc. or anything in fact. It is like a diary that all can read.

Reg, I have never had to show any paperwork for launching. So answer is nothing ( unless anyone knows better ! )

Welcome to the site Reg and many thanks for the comments re: the web site. You could try here :- There is a hotel up the road from me which I heard ( from Coddy ) that they were planning a boat storage facility - it is not running yet ( as far as I am aware ) but they have plenty of space. ( Not sure on security but it is hardly a high crime area where they are The hotel is the East Close County Hotel - ideal for launching from Christchurch ( approx 2-3 miles away ). East Close Hotel Alternatively there is a holiday home park ( which does have self catering facilities ) and there is plenty of space for boats ( from what I have seen - it is only 1/2 mile from my house ) - Hoburne Holiday Park

I am still learning what is possible with the new site. It allows much more interactivity and in particular I think the Journal facility will be really useful for recording catches / trips etc. Any changes, I am certainly not going to lose any information which is in the forum ( it is all backed up and on my PC ). I did try using phpBB with the data from our forum but it is not as flexible as Invision.

Good question. They are both actually "pointing" to the same forum, so no worries. ( Although I might start all over again for other reasons ).

The link to this forum ( ie. http://www.pbsbac.co.uk/forum will be changing to http://www.pbsbac.co.uk/forums ) New Forum Link Use this link and you will find a whole new world ! Note : There are changes being made over the next couple of weeks, so the forum may be unavailable for short durations ( I hope to keep this down to periods of less than hour at the most. ) It will be worth waiting for

( I still need to tidy the adverts up at top of forum ( they will be moving. ) Bliocks on both sides or left only ( or right only ). What do you think ?

Adam, My 520 weighs 750 lbs. The 590 weighs 1300 lbs. I guess you could launch / retrieve single handed but it is going ot be harder. ( Using Maverick as an example, I would love to see Martin launching her at Mudeford single handed - how would you push the trailer out for a start ? Presumably it is do-able but I guess to a degree I am trying to justify not getting a 590 in order to prevent "boat envy"

We had to help the guy launch the 590 as it was hard to get off the trailer with such little water. ( Boat name is "Dream On" - same as his 520 if you see it around ). That was his main gripe - so much heavier and harder to launch single handed. However, he loves the way the boat handles in rough seas. Must say, I was astounded at how much bigger it is than the 520 but single handed I wouldnt fancy your chances of launching at Mudeford - I would put them at 0% So I am pleased in a way that I have stayed with the 520 but envious in another way as the 590 is such a nice boat.

Steamed out for a late launch ( 9-30 ) from Wick ( as my colleague didnt have any waders and I figured a Wick launch would be easier. Low water but not a huge low so figured trip through harbour would be OK. The channel seems to have moved in the harbour from all the dredging and it is still well shallow in places ( 1 1/2 ft ). Got to the run, went for the sandbar and used a wave to lift us up and over it - off to XRay ( This time wary to avoid the rocks at beerpan ). Raining and a little breezy but not too rough and actually quite pleasant trip out ( apart from the rain ) Reached XRay and down with the anchor - slack water ( in fact there was barly any tide all morning and the tide was insufficient to turn the boat, so we were facing into the wind all day ). 1/2 hour wait and then the whiting started coming - mackeral baits were untouched and they seemed to be going for the big squid baits which I hoped a cod would grab. My work colleague had the best whiting at 2lb 2oz and I dropped a good fish which took off like an express train ( I suspect it was a big whiting though ). Around a dozen whiting in 3 hours ( + 2 dogs and one pout ). Nice bumpy trip back as the wind was against the tide but good to get out after what seems an age. Engine still misfiring but shant be long now before its days are numbered in the singular ! Saw "Dream On" in the harbour which was a blue 520 Orkney but is now upgraded to a 590 ( amazing how much bigger these are ).

Going out this morning, so will see if they are still biting again. ( Hoping the wind doesnt pick up any more ).

I am currently working on an update for the web site. This should enable other users to post articles and users with admin permissions the ability to change the front page etc. This will take a while but is in hand at the moment.
