Duncan, My work colleague is selling a rollercoaster trailer but I think it may be too big for what you are looking for ( he used it for his Orkney Day Angler ). I can get you details if you wish. I know it is braked and in "as new" condition - but I think maybe too big.

Coddy, Their estimates of wave heights in Poole Harbour often are a little excessive though
-
Charlie, Personally, with regard to anti-hunting I have no qualms fishing. I cannot see how fishing can be compared with chasing foxes around the countryside - could be an interesting thread on this I think !!

Malc, My Honda BF30 doesn't quite stall if the throttle is opened up suddenly but it attempts to !!. Hearing yours does the same I now feel much happier

Having been intrigued I set in search of the history of this boat and found the following article which explains all .... Sailing to success Nov 21 2003 By James Maloney, Southport Visiter A HESKETH Bank boatyard has set its sail for success after starting production of a popular fishing vessel. Douglas Marine Limited, of Douglas Boatyard, has been riding on the crest of a wave since securing the exclusive rights to build the Predator 160. The deal, which was completed earlier this year, has marked the start of the family-owned company's first step into the mass production of vessels since purchasing the boatyard four years ago. Ray Jackson, who runs the firm with his wife Chris and son Grant, said: "In the first year we will be looking to produce around 30 Predator boats and, hopefully, about 50 in subsequent years. "Also, we are planning to produce a much bigger 30ft-long version. We might produce an even bigger one, but that will depend on the demand." The company, which specialises in repairs, servicing, storing, mooring and lifting, also produces several narrowboats a year, some of them customised. They will be taking on several new shipwrights to cope with the increased workload the Predator will bring. Ray added: "We are already quite a busy boatyard, but if demand really gets going then we will be taking on more staff and will possibly move the production side to an off-site industrial estate. "It would be difficult to mass produce the boat in the yard because there wouldn't be enough room for other aspects of the business. However, the building of narrowboats would still remain at Douglas Boatyard. That's because they are designed to the customer's specifications and need more attention to detail. "That's also why we only produce about three to seven a year. However, the Predator is completely different. Its fibreglass shell means only a few things need to be added after its built, such as the outboard motor and steering." The 16ft-long Predator series is a preferred choice for local sea anglers because of its stability and seaworthiness. Its semi-cathedral hull design also makes it popular among water skiers and for sailing enthusiasts who enjoy exploring coasts or shorelines. The original prototype was designed and built several years ago by Millennium Marine in Leyland. However, the death of one of the boat's designers caused production to be halted. The ownership rights passed to Pool-side Mouldings in Freckleton before being acquired by Douglas Marine Ltd.

Must say they do look the same but they are made by different companies ( assuming the web pages are up to date ), albeit in very close proximity to each other ! The Predator 160 in Preston Marine is quoted as being built by Douglas Marine who are at Douglas Boatyard, Becconsall Lane, Hesketh Bank PR4 6RR The Seahog Predator is built by Poolside Mouldings of Naze Lane East, Freckleton, Lancs, PR4 1UNB Freckleton is just down the road from Preston and Hesketh Bank, so I presume the hull is the same moulding but the final finishing is different ??

The hull of the Predator looks similar to my Orkney 520 from the rear ( BTW : Orkneys are from down South in Arundel ). The front also is like a cross between the Warrior hull and the Orkney - ie. Not as V shaped as the Orkney but a deeper V than the Warrior. Looks good from the pics on the Preston Marina site I must say.

Stumbled across this site where you can get long term weather predictions. Looks good to me. Euro Long Term

Sam, Also don't forget to check other retailers on the net to compare with EBay. You wil often find you can buy cheaper from say Poingdestres than from E-Bay. ( eg. Shimano TLD20 from Poingdestres is around

Web hosting on the site. We would only be talking a nominal amount to help cover the costs of the site. There would be two downsides though. 1) There is only one ftp account available so putting the files on the web server would have to be done by someone with admin access ( ie. There is no way I can give out username / password to all for this due to security issues. ). 2) Only pages with a low bandwidth ( ie. No huge files with hundreds of downloads ) and of course no MP3s, copyright stuff, illegal stuff etc. etc. If anyone wants an e-mail account and is a member then let me know and I will set you one up ( but use it for spamming or illicit purposes then it will be taken away !).

As part of the web hosting deal we have the ability to have web page subdomains under the pbsbac.co.uk website. eg. We can have www.bluewarrior.pbsbac.co.uk or www.neo.pbsbac.co.uk in addition we also have the ability for members to have their own e-mail account ( <anything>@pbsbac.co.uk ). Having seen Alan's Domino page I thought maybe there are members who would be interested in this. I am after opinions on whether members would be interested in this and whether they feel a nominal charge to cover the web hosting costs would be reasonable or whether they feel this should be a benefit of belonging to the club ( obviously e-mails and web space would only be available for club members. Opinions ?

Very useful. It even shows the ditch at the back of my house as a floodplain

Alan, Like the pics of the live bait well. I have also made myself one but not quite as classy as yours I have used a container which held pet food and I am not sure how long it will last, but cost me nothing so who cares !!. I haven't fitted a drain plug as it is quite easy to siphon out the water. As the container isn't high enough to drain out without drilling holes through the transom, I have placed it on top of a plastic box ( added benefit of not such a weight of water needed ). The outlet is about 1 -2 inches below the inlet and I used a drain connector which comes with a grid over it - so no escaping eels. As I say, no where near as classy as yours but should work I hope.
-
Count Neo in. I should be OK for crew but will know better nearer the date. Oh and Neo now also has a livebait tank so this time please leave me some eels ( will probably sink with all that extra weight of water onboard !! ). Bob, Did you want anything for the eels I pinched off you last trip ?
