Is the boat which was sunk in Christchurch harbour last year, still there or has it been raised ?
-
Ditto here - happy to show how to deploy / recover using the alderney buoy method ( also a good excuse to get out ! )
I actually lost my first anchor on the ledge on my second trip in the boat, just after joining the club some 9-10 years ago and Martin explained how to rig a Bruce anchor to trip and since then I am still using the same anchor. ( My first anchor was a daneforth which is / was hopeless in the rocky ledge )
I have had one or two occasions where I thought my brice anchor would be history, but so far have managed to trip / retrieve it.

I carry a spare as the Yam won't start without one. On the other hand, my previous engine (2002/3 Johnson) would start with or without a kill cord, but obviously if it was present for the start, if removed the engine would cut! Rob
That is exactly the same with the E-Tec as well. Start with the kill cord attached and if you remove it the engine stops but you can start with the key without the kill cord if needed.

Really impressive the lack of camera shake when doing the boat to boat shots. Makes me wish I had time off work to go now

Had an interesting conversation regarding the practice of returning all the female bream and keeping only the male fish.
The male fish make a nest to attract the female fish to lay eggs. Once fertilised the males then guard the nest.
Therefore, if we take all the males and only leave female fish, what will happen to the unguarded nest ?
Furthermore to complicate matters a bream can turn from male to female evidently ?
What is thevreasoning for returning all the females, it doesn't seem to be based upon anything scientific ?

We had a slow start to the day. Despite the comment "Paul's caught a bream there must be thousands down there :)"
That seemed to be the kiss of death as no bream for next 2 hours.
We then moved to another mark and slow still.
Water was murky due to the rain I guess.
As tide slackened though we started catching and had around 30 bream by the end of the day and some reasonable sized ones as well.
As always was great fun and a good time.

Found that a neat way of posting a link is to use the link icon as above ( as per normal ).
This gives a link like this :-
http://www.pbsbac.co.uk/forums
If you then click the switch icon on the top left of the edit window you will see the "BB Markup language" like this
http://www.pbsbac.co.uk/forums
You can then edit the line to change the text displayed for the link eg.Poole Bay Forums
Which is displayed like this :-

Itr is possible to create multiple calendars as well.
I have created one for Competitions but of course needs filling in.
Not sure if this is easier than having all in the one calendar.

I clip, mine to myself but have also,as Brian says, left it clipped around the cables in the past.
I always wear it when steaming at night but now determined to do this always as rather not be rundown and maimed by my own boat. ( to be persuaded just take a look at some of the injuries you can sustain from a propellor ... )
-
Did you have no luck with Sam Coles then ?

Studied the ray and I go for it being a Spotted Ray, on grounds that it doesn't have spots which run right to the wing edge and it having bristles in the centre portion just behind the eyes and at the leading edges and on the tail.
What do you think ?

My crew for tomorrow has had to cancel due to family illness. Was planning on taking out Neo for first trip of 2013 for a stab at the bream. If anyone is interested, give me a call on 07887 875964. Will be out of Christchurch either early and back by 1200 or 1200 to 1800 ish

Well pleased with mine. The decals though have started peeling off.
Mine has been sitting on the drive for best part of 6 months, hopefully will be reporting that it starts first time after such a long lay off ( it did last time ).
I had a leaking gasket between the lower leg and the powerhead, this was replaced under warranty ( I didn't even know there was a problem with it until I had it serviced, )
The worst thing that has happened was the clips on the cover broke so got these replaced under warranty.
I would definitely get another one.and PJ forgets to mention that he bought his second hand.

I do the same with a Battery 1 -> Both -> Battery 2 -> Off switch.
I steam out with both batteries in parallel charging and then when anchored switch to one battery to run radio / lights etc.
If switching for say Battery 1 to Battery 2 it is important to not move the switch through the "Off" postition if the engine is running. ( It risks destroying the regulator diodes )
Switching from Battery 1 to Both to Battery 2 is fine.
