  1. During my recent USA trip I played around with the RSS feed from the forum. It works a treat on my mobile phone. I am going to improve it slightly so that the start of the last posts can be read, but for those with mobiles capable of reading RSS feeds try using this link in your phone http://www.pbsbac.co.uk/forum/ssi.php?a=ou...4,5,6,7&show=20

    Happy Meal

I am waiting for Strawberry shake to come along next Welcome to the forum and I must say, the article you have in BFM is well interesting.
  3. Interesting article on fishing an area known as "the bridge" in this week's BFM..... Also noted that Helen is in there with her Bass catch as is Rich and his Ballan Wrasse. ( Now have to buy two more copies to send to her mum and sister ! ).

    Livebait Tank...

Alun, Gordon has just ordered ( and received ) one ( actually two but I am having one ) from some place that was on E-Bay.
  5. Dan, 10 PM could be good as no work on the Mon . Let me know ASAP
  6. Now off to update the record list again 112.5 % as my earlier maths were wrong
  7. Dave, It is any help, I too start feeling sea sick if I try to tie knots on a stationary boat, never mind a moving one ( I find it the quickest way of feeling ill ). Taking your eyes off the horizon and concentrating on some other task, I start to feel rough in 15-30 secs or so. Mind you, I found it is not so bad now I have had the boat for 3 years or so. PS: Just looking at the picture of some guy eating a huge pizza slice whilst typing this
  8. Dan, If you want some company, I think I will be able to do Sunday night. ( Can't easily fish Sunday in the day as we are invited to a wedding anniversary party. However, will be back in time for an evening fish ( and have next day off work ) Two problems though. 1) No crew - anyone fancy it ? 2) Weather needs to improve as forecast looks poor into this weekend.
  9. 127.5% specimen as well ( hopefully no flaws in my maths )
  10. Should of called Dan, reading this at 22:01 and thinking I could have gone - could have used my new ugly stick as well How did you get on. I am off next week so maybe go one day/eve then.
  11. Nice fish both Kam and Alun and not the slightest bit envious that I had to go and work - honest ! Good to see the triggers around though. I recall catching one last year and they fight so well. Could be useful for Sunday's species comp me thinks PS: Alun - "change of sceen" ?? - standard of teaching nowdays not what it used to be
  12. Nice sized boat Dave, I was looking at something similar in Northney Marina a couple of years back.
  13. Not according to the map I am looking at ( only the water to the east )

    New Boat

Nice looking boat Mark. Looking forward to seeing you and Rich out on her.
  15. Nice one Adam, almost as eventful as my latest trip and nice to see the bass are still around. I would have loved to see Tom's face when you ran aground with 5 knots of water rushing by - probably looked like my friends when same happened to us last year.
  16. Actually quite convenient for me Certainly wouldn't want to be fishing in this weather anyhow.
  17. Gordon, Got back just now - unbelievable flying back from the USA but understandable ( we were flying back the afternoon of the warning in the morning ). Connecting flight for the Philadelphia - Gatwick flight was cancelled so had to switch to a flight from Washington to Heathrow. Got to Heathrow and spent nearly 1 1/2 hours taxiing around waiting for a gate. I doubt I will be fishing on Sunday - absolutely shattered and besides, as you say weather looks poor. Got some great fishing stuff whilst out there though. Braid a plenty ( $5.00 to $17.00 ), White moulded fishing rod holders for $9.00, Fillet knives ( good quality Rapala ones ) for $14.00. 3 inch stormies for $3.00 etc.
  18. Great fish Fred and as usual a great report.
  19. Sounds like you had one hell of a day Trevor - fantastic. How frustrating it must have been watching all the action from Blue Warrior - but there again I experienced that watching last week !! Proof enough that you don't need the bigger tides for the mark to fish. and the good news for me is that Helen is reading this and wants to go on another trip when I get back from the states. ( But there again she does have the bigger fish to her name )
  20. Our trip out was a little more eventful ( if not fish wise ). Found the bass mark fishing slow. Got Mark into a fish though and had one myself, them Mark had a second. Steamed over to the Sole mark and settled down but nothing showing at all. Decided to move over to where Plaicemat and Lady Jane were but I had forgotten to reel my line in. Fortunately the steam over was shorter that the length of my braid ( just !) - so wound in for what seemed an eternity. Mark had to go one better though - he dropped his rod over the side but had the line inside the boat but the reel was in freespool. Having pulled all the braid in, eventually got the rod back in the boat - phew ! Fished until around 11:00 ish but Mark had to work next day, so steamed back to Christchurch. Problem with electrics as we navigated through the channel though. All lights / GPS turned off when I went to use the power tilt. Evidently they had been running on the power from the engine as opposed to any in the battery. Dropped anchor in the run whilst I switched to battery 1 ( thank god for 2 batteries ). My "Marine" battery is flat as a pancake and I suspect not holding charge as I had a similar occurrance whilst fishing with Paul J. Now back on battery 1 we steamed towards the run, I was regretting having deleted my track out though . Going up the run we saw a boat hammering across the bar which was well shallow - they found this out themselves as the ground to a halt on it ). Steaming up the harbour we were suddenly met with a loud clattering noise. "WHAT NOW!" I think to myself. We both look in the back of the boat and it appears that one of the bass has suddenly decided to thrash around on deck. This was puzzling given we had gutted the fish around 1 hour ago It transpired that a mullet had lept into the boat whilst we steamed past - never had that happen before - amazing ! ( could have been a sea trout though ). The rest of the trip back was pretty uneventful.
  21. 17.5 % VAT and something like 6% ? for import duty. However, the carriage charge will make it unviable importing ( hence the need for a mule ! )
  22. Best price I found was a guy selling them on E-Bay. You could get them from the USA but by the time you pay the import tax / carriage etc. it isn't worth it ( unless you have your own personal courier ). PS: Off to the states on Monday, so will have a look whilst there if I get time.
