    Advice

Oh yes indeed I got mine about a month ago it's a 10/20 coupled with an Abu6500 Left hand wind and 15lb braid. It's a great outfit and feels so powerfull yet flexible. My fishing partner Mark was so impressed with it he asked me to look out for a slightly lighter one for him hence the new 8/15 one I mentioned. He will use it with a Fladen 7500 fixed spool (also off ebay

Pete, To add a picture to the forum just write your post as normal and at the bottom of the window where you enter text there is a "File Attachments" section. Click on browse and use the pop up window to navigate to the file you want to add, highlight it and click the open button in the window. The box to the right of the browse button will now contain the path to the file. Click the Add Reply button as normal and the file should be uploaded. Hope this helps regards Paul
  3. URL is here Shark Killed for Profit and typical reporting "as a member of the notorious mackeral family ..... " etc.
  4. Kam, What do you mean by "USB acc" ?
  5. CCAPP.exe is the common hosting application that is used by both Norton AntiVirus and Norton Internet Security. CCAPP so it is your Norton stuff that is failing to respond. Just need to try to find out now what it is trying to do when it does this.
  6. Oh damn, I would have been up for a trip after the mullet as well - teach me for leaving my phone in the car Nice catch Dan and how did DommyBoy get on fishing on Sunday ( he was gone by the time we got back from the island )
  7. Kam, Sounds like you could have some other program ( or maybe Norton ) using up all your memory. How much memory does your PC have ? I presume you are running Windows XP. If you right click on the task bar and sleect Task Manager and then order the list of processes running by memory usage you will see which are using most memory. Also you can click on the performance tab and see what figures are in the Physical memory and in the commit charge fields.
  8. Very handy James, now when is the next good day then ??

    Help

Ditto here. There is nothing to ground the raido to on my boat. Probably where larger boats have a ground rail or something like that ?

    Help

Not advisable as TV coax uses 75 ohn impedance connections, whereas the marine VHF radios use 50 ohm impedence connections. The connector you need to connect to the radio ( assuming you need a new plug ) is a PL259 which is
  11. Al, I think you are doing yourselves a misjustice - you and Rupe are definitely better anglers !! - however, I can confirm that I am improving each trip 1st trip I was pleased to catch the one fish, second trip my wife had a cracking fish, third trip my son caught, fourth trip with Sam Chapman the less said the better and the last trip we had the 9 fish. Getting the feel for 1) where the fish can be expected and 2) how deep to fish the float and 3) what is a fish and what is the bottom. Saying that I lost what seemed a big fish when I thought I had snagged the bottom. But each time I get more confident and when confident you catch more ( in general ). Also picked some more tips up from your posts, so will be putting that into practice next as well ;-)
  12. Al, You could report the fish to BFM as it has got to stand a good chance of winning the catch and release Bass prize ( Navman plotter )

  14. Sound advice I think regarding lowering the aerial. However, I have to disagree with you Bob wrt. GRP not being a good conductor. It is still a better conductor than air and the lightning will have no hesitation tracking across the GRP. ( Same sort of "wives tale" with regard to standing on rubber/ wearing rubber boots during a storm ). I think yachts have lightning conductors down the mast ? That said and done, I think you should be safe as the odds are in your favour with regard to where the lightning strikes. PS: Actually got electrocuted by lightning whilst fishing on Stanpit marsh. One hand on the fishing rod and leaning against the big 4 knots sign ( not there any more ) - lightning hit the water and tracked through the water and down the rod )
  15. Nice fish Al, we did hear you shout and the fish looked enormous from where we were fishing as well. We had a good day as well, but no doubles for us. I took PJ over and it was his first time fishing this mark. First drift and I am straight into a bass - only a small one at 3lb. Subsequent drifts and I get a 5lb fish, then PJ catches one. Replenished the mackeral stocks ( dead south from where we were fishing ) and PJ has another. I then get my third and fourth another two 5lbers. PJ then has his third and fourth. Tide slackens and we await the ebb. All the mackeral have died now, so I fish a dead one on the bottom and we kept our drift going a little longer and I am into a last fish of, you guessed it, around 5 lb. 5 bass for me and 4 for PJ and it wasn;t even 11 o'clock As I wanted to fish the species comp headed back towards Dolphin Sands, caught a Tub Gurnard and then over to the ledge where caught 3 pollock and 3 wrasse. Time was running out, so hammered over to X-Ray where I got 2 dogfish, 4 bream and the smallest smoothhound you have ever seen ( Picture coming soon ! ). Great day out in great company and the fishing was top draw.
  16. Will be fishing the species competition tomorrow with Paul Jennings as crew. ( Tried calling Charlie and Pete but both out ). I understand that Gordon is fishing on Enticer with Mark B. Anyone else fishing the comp. - Haven't seen much mention of it here.
  17. Didn't go out today ( thank god ), but was thinking of those out there as I watched the trees waving around and the wind was actually howling at one stage. Hopefully there will be no repeat performance tomorrow.
  18. Amended some of the pictures on the front page ( thought it could do with a change ). Any requests and I will add them to the page.

    Wrecking

Set off at 7 AM from Hayling Island to meet up with Valkyrie ( skippered by Glen Caines ) and a 2 1/2 hr steam saw us reaching a wreck the other side of the channel. I was fishing with two other friends and there was a couple of other hroups of anglers who nabbed the spots at the back of the boat, so we opted to fish from the side of the boat. Last time I went wrecking I found it really daunting what with the long drop down, the reel up to avoid the wreck and the the drop back down. This time, I have it nailed. Armed with orangy stormie on around 10 ft trace and 8 oz lead ( thanks to Paul J ) and first drift I lower the tackle all the way to the bottom ( seems like an age ). Skipper then sound the horn once to signal that the wreck is coming up, so wound up 10-15 turns and the skipper sound horn to signal that the back of the wreck has been reached, so lower the tackle to the bottom and wind up 10 turns, down 10 then BANG - straight into a pollock. Next drift the fish are getting bigger and both myself and my friend Steve lose our stormies. Glen tells us heavier leader needed - so upped mine to 30lb. A few pollock later and as the tide was slackening, we anchored on another wreck. Fished this initially with a stormie and more pollock. Fed up with pollock, so switch to mackeral on a smaller hook and stright into the bream. Had a fish of around 3 to 4 lb which was nothing special as the guy at the back of the boat hauled up one which weighed in at 6lb straight - awesome fish. As tide picked up, I hooked into a better pollock on the mackeral and my friend Steve caught a nice ling which was landed on the opposite side of the boat to where he was fishing. As tide was strong, switched back to drifting the wreck and I asked Glen if there were any cod on the wrecks. "It's getting towards the end of the season". Well, blow me down, next drift, I hook into a fish which fights all the way to the top - this is no pollock and a 11 lbish cod arives after a decent scrap. Last but one drift someone kindly took half my braid around their line, so I had to retackle for the last drift. Hurridly set up a flying collar rig and get down to the bottom. Glen signals the wreck has arrived - I wind up and wait. - To hell with it I thought, its the last drift, so might as well go for it, so lower toward the wreck. Straight into a pollock again. Superb days fishing on the hottest day of the year. Top notch skipper on a great boat and certainly put us on the fish. Definitely going back to try again. PS: Picture is on my friends mobile - awaiting transfer.

    Wrecking

Went wrecking on Valkyrie yesterday. ( Superb skipper Glen Cairnes is and steamed out to just off 10 miles from the french coast ) Fished a wreck off the French coast and have go the hang of fishing the stormies for pollock now. Superb fishing in around 150 metres of water. Topped the day off with a 10-11lb cod as well. More detail of the trip when I get a chance to use my PC at home but aching now.....
