  3. dan, we are out on the 11th but are going for bass because its a big tide, if you want rays i think they call it the six mile banks directly south from the lighthouse just out past the spoil grounds if you look on your chart. in the same area there are two wrecks the reinder and the clyde but to date ive not had a chance to try them. cheers andy
  4. alan, were hoping to be fishing the ledge tomorrow so maybe see you out there. cheers andy.

  9. launched lymington at about 1-30 and off to try for a few bass unfortunately without the sandeels, alec said that this has been one of the worst seasons for getting hold of them reason unknown. after a few drifts and no bass showing we headed of to freshwater for a try with the same luck so we decide to give it best and move on to a bit of inshore drifting. drifting proved to be enjoyable with red gurnard and bream being good sport on light tackle. time to anchor up for the sole and after a very slow start we finished the morning with eight sole the largest about 1 3/4. three v happy chaps head back at about three with the sea like a mill pond. bream, garfish, mackerel, red gurnard, cuttlefish, bass(minature) and sole. from the radio it sounds like it was a good night to be fishing. cheers andy.
  10. our plan is to launch mid afternoon lymington and try of the island with sandeel as long as our bait man manages to get some ! then of for the sole for about eight. look forward to seeing you all out there. cheers andy
  11. from a personal point of view most of my fishing is on a Saturday or a day in the week if a job is cancelled. would it be possible to try and get feedback in regards of numbers of people who would rather fish a Saturday so that the people concerned could perhaps give it a try ? cheers andy (please note this is only an idea)

not sure but if you leave it in your car with the windows closed the heat may be enough to gain the inch by making it more flexible ? if not could you winch it back to a fixed point using the old type car jack or tirfor winch ? andy
  14. sounds great, glad you managed to catch a couple. certainly looking forward to having another go, hopefully 4th august ! cheers andy
  15. we were v happy with the result and looking forward to the next time. i think that we made a mistake not using fixed spool reels and also found that setting the drift was quite hard because the boat seemed keen on doing a 180-360 turn, proabably a problem with 3 on the boat but managable with 2. unfortunately i think it is time to fix pump to back of the boat, the airator supplied from tek- tanks only managed to keep the bait alive for about 11/2 hrs and this was in 120 litres of water im sure that a lot of it was down to the heat because ive had better results before but when you struggle to find bait you want it to stay alive ! cheers andy
  16. launched at lymington and off to try this float fishing. mackerel were v hard to come by but in the end a few were caught, with the only guidance being the posts on here we tackled up with with different length droppers and in the end my crew mate pulled out a lovely 5 pound bass. we both really enjoyed this method and have got lots to learn but a good start cheers andy
  17. dan, bass was under a pound and caught on feathers definately luck as we were after mackeral. andy
  18. james, the largest one was thirteen inches long but not sure of the weight. having not caught any before i dont know what size a doormat would be ? the one thing i did find interesting was that i caught all the sole on one of the extendable metal booms with short snoods, but my crew caught none on a normal 2 hook rig even though he still caught bream ! do the size of tides make any difference or is it just a case of it has to be dark for them to feed ? thanks again andy
  19. launch lymington 5-30 try the bridge but too much swell, back to hurst and manage one mackeral and a small bass, 8-30 of to meet james to try for my first sole. pick up some bream and then at 11-40 the first one is landed chuffed to bits second 11-57 and the bream action carried on with mostly small fish, 3rd sole about 2-30 and the 4 th and final at 4-10. time to get the kettle on and then back to the bridge at 4-45 same again too much swell so a quick couple of drifts at hurst and back home. my first night fish from boat and my first ever sole. this is all thanks to james and a first class club. now off to bed thanks to all andy
