    MOB!!!!!!!!

worth tying a small buoy to the inboard end of your anchor rope making sure its larger than your alderney ring then if you need to slip anchor in a hurry just chuck the lot over the side the anchor buff attached to the alderney ring slides to the end and is stopped by the small one tied to the end ready to be picked up later!!!
  2. have been tipped the plaice have arrived on the shambles on boat had 29 today i believe !! if thats any use

    UK Hooks

the braid sounds reasonable but a bit thick 14.1kg whiplash is .10mm
  4. st albans overfalls are much worse on the flood tide due to the nature of the ledge at its shallowest it is only 10m deep on the west side there are two holes which drop to 60m causeing the bigger race the best time to fish the holes is on the flood because the race is down tide on the ebb you are right in the middle of it. the description of the lulworth banks sound a bit romantic i have dived there on many occasions most is rock ledges and sandy patches with the shoals of pout and pollack around the wreck of the british inventor other wise dogfish all the wrasses the odd flattie and skate tides are comparatively week compared to other local spots i would liken it to the outer poole patch .
  5. HOW PREDICTABLE ! i would if i could find time in between the four boats i have to build the one i skipper and makin t bars alderney rings and landin nets, not forgettin shytalk of course . im sure if anyone asked i wouyld point them in the right direction !!!!

  8. it all depends on how far you want to set your self as a limit if you look at the latitude numbers each minute is one mile anvil pt is 50 35 n the avanti say is on 50 29 n so is 6miles offshore work it from there its up to the individual as i said before we have had a fletcher faro 18ft 36 miles out before . its just how brave /mad you are
  9. THERE ARE PLENTY OF WRECKS WITHIN SIGHT OF BLIGHTY THAT ARE DEEP ENOUGH TO DETER ALL BUT THE MOST SERIOUS DIVERS BUT ALSO ARE NOT HALF WAY TO FRANCE AS IT HAPPENS THE LAST FEW YEARS I HAVE SEEN MORE DIVERS 30 MILES OUT THAN INSHORE ALSO THEY ARE A HANDY SOURCE OF INFO IN ALL THE YEARS IVE HAD A BOAT IVE ONLY HAD DIVERS ON THE SAME WRECK ONCE AND THEY ASKED FIRST IF IT WAS OK , THE LUCK OF THE DRAW I GUESS
  10. on my last few visits to the islands i have only used a 15lb class ugly stik and a team daiwa 12-30 with a speedmaster3 and penn 535 respectively and 10kg braid
  11. stren v good very stretchy so forgiving and hard wearing ,dynon may look thick but is much thinner for a given strain than any of the fusion braids its the white colour makes it look thick you should only have to tie one knot in the braid , the one to the leader i use the allbright knot with a double thickness of braid and have no problems
  12. bob have read the conger article a couple of thing to add the conger is general conger dont move to far from thier home they do move to deep water in cold weather as they are at the northern edge of their range and cannot tollerate cold water as they have a film of i think water in their eyes which freezes in the cold rendering them blind and unable to feed in the years ago during a cold snap many were washed up dead as aresult of this, thier food source ,despite the fact we all fish mainly with mackerel or squid ,is varied including crab, lobster pout dogfish etc anything that comes in range i had an eel of 73lb about 4years ago when brought aboard spat out a dogfish which merrily swam back to the depths(200ft+)another doggy was found when it was gutted , alternative bait????
  13. berkeley whiplash takes some beating on a par with spiderwire, fusion braids have only one benefit over nylon they dont stretch but are very thick for thier breaking strain compaired to true braids like whiplash which is advertised in the mags for about

  15. martins setup is one of the best ways several of us have this you could get a baby inverter and use a fish tank airstone the other way commercial bass boats do it is to have a tube pinned to the transom with a bend at the bottom faceing forward under the hulland the top connected to the tank via a valve then as soon as you are under way water is forced up the tube and into the tank the excess is drained overboard via an overflow at the top of the tank. the main problems with eels is over aireating them and overcrowding dont put to many in the tank also the other factor is water temperature the cooler the better that is where airstones are useful because the air bubbles cool the water , the overcrowding issue is the same with mackerel we never put much more than a dozen at atime in the tank and never handle them untill they go on the hook , !!!!
  16. not a lota good this time of year unless you want to travel 20 miles there are some wrecks closer but not a lot of life plus west bay is not the best of launch sites thereis a lot of sea defence work goin on and you do need good weather even the charter boats dont venture out much till easter.if you need some wrecks let me know

a friend of mine had one of them navman5500 on his arvor he has now binned it in favour of a raytheon 620 plotter he likened the difference as trying to watch footy on a 30" widescreen as apposed to a 14 " portable the bigger screen and quality cartography put them in diferent leagues. BIGGER IS BETTER

  23. some sensible ideas but dont use mdf for rod racks it absorbs water like a sponge and swells up quite substantialy!!!!! use wbp plywood or if you are loaded then hardwood or marine ply
  24. have a look on mariners website there is a page all about 75 marathon outboards , it is possible to clean the antifoul off but it is very messy and time consuming and the hull would not look like new as it should if done right have been scuffed up prior to the original antifoul being applied, very little is impossible with grp it is just a case of how much time and money you throw at it !!!
  25. ah but what if they are OSGB36 co ordinates ??????
