I do believe the 165 is a good boat but it could be better finished, take for example my rear bench seat, stainless steel staples cost

What is it about the deck of 165's, I see a number of members run 165's, everyone I look at as a lumpy bumpy floor, the degree of lumpyness being proportional to age and useage. I've had mine 3 years and real am disappointed with it for numerous reasons besides the lumpy floor.

Went out for a day on the boat after the Christmas break with high expectations, forecast was calm seas light winds and possibly sunshine. We fished with double squid baits all day, moving 4 times until it got dark. The final tally was one dogfish - a tragic result for a days fishing! still we we were still in good spirits amazing what tea and bacon rolls can do.
We motored back to Cobbs Quay in the dark and tested our night navigation skills again - they need refreshing but made it safely. The VHF was busy with a group of of kayakers being airlifted from the race at Portland.
Happy New Year

hi brian i'm in boscombe . as for buget , it will be as and if the boats worth it ,not really more than 6k and will be looking for one the end of this year would love to get one sooner but i'll just end up getting something thats not that good or suitable for what i want it for. think for the best, get one ready and on the water for next season. over summer just gone i've been out on a few open dory styles and a radier . i've already come to the conclusion that a cuddy is the way, as you have shelter. would also like a good deck space (as i figit way to much) as for those boats , i haven't been out on many others apart from charters. i have looked at the seahog trooper but i understand that the early planning hull and the now cathedral hull are very different. and not sure what othe boats offer with v hulls etc. cheers alex

hello . i'm alex a newbie
. i was out on the dawn radier with alot of you during your cod comp (not in it) i'd never been fishing for cod as i'm a shore fisherman, but was given the opportunity to fish a few times over the end of summer into winter . big thanks to james..
and during you comp managed to bag myself a 17lb cod as my first.
. now i have relised that fishing from a boat is far more comfortable than walking the beaches , and a great way of not going home to soon . sorry honey have to wait for the tides
. i'm gunna get one my self . so any info on small boats (except the 14 dejon) not intrested
would be really good . thanks alex

Were you planning to fish it on the original date?

Very frustrating! my boat was broken into on F pontoon at Cobbs a few years ago. Fortunately the damage was minimal. The police were very responsive and did take fingerprints. Hope you get the engine back.

OK, its official.
The Varne Boat Club BYOB COD OPEN has been postponed till the reserve date of the 7th of November.
I'm really sorry but the Easterly forecast for Sunday is barely fishable at best and certainly will bring very unpleasant fishing conditions. They will be downright dangerous for the smaller boats, especially if sunday nights stronger winds roll in early.
I have made the decision a little early to give those who are travelling from further away more chance to cancel arrangements.
If you would like to fish the reserve date and would like me to hang onto your booking details or would like to book in on the new date please let me know.
Once again, I am really sorry to have to postpone but I want all our competitors and guests to have an enjoyable day with us and I will not take a chance on safety.
Many Thanks
John R
