signed up a while ago.. but my first post here so far.. really enjoyed a day out with the old man (Stuie) - catching fish is a secondary to a day out and some banter with the old man.. but i think that was our best performance yet, and we managed to accrue a fair few species between us.. plus landed my first pollack, my first tope (x3) and my first ray! Was a great day all told, a little sunburnt but well worth it

I thought the "inflatable" bit would get the perverts amongst us going Took a few posts though Wouldn't want to have to blow it up manually, even with the footpump I don't think my heart could take it. Hopefully doing a Portland to Lulworth cove trip end of August with the Ribnet forum bunch, will take a rod for a sneaky bit of fishing on the way. Will try and make the next meeting.

Hi Dave. I really wanted to get to the last meeting but never made it. I will try and make the next one, as I would like to ask some questions about the fishing from the local experts. Pete.
-
Thanks Rob. I don't have room on the driveway for a proper boat so am a bit restricted as to what I can have. I even have to inflate/deflate everytime i use it, but it doesn't take long and it will no dought get quicker. It does help having a proper 12volt pump. The 15hp 2 stroke is great as it is a lot lighter than an equivelant 4 stroke and not fussy about being laid down in the car. I wouldn't want anything bigger as it is alarmingly fast allready. I paid for a years harbour dues for Poole and Portland so I have a decent amount of coast to explore. Pete.

Hi. Only been a member for a short while and I haven't noticed any one else that has a SIB in the club. Is there anyone else out there using one for fishing and cruising? I have only just bought my one, it is a Bombard Aerotec 380 in red with a 15hp Mercury 2 stroke. We had a run out on it a week or so ago but haven't been able to get out since ( been a bit windy ) At first we just pootled around Poole harbour, launched from Baiter park. Then about an hour before high tide we decided to try going out through the entrance. There seemed to be a mass exodus at the time so I figured it must be ok. Buzzed down and past Old Harry then came back, all in we did 19.9 nautical miles and were on the water about 5 hours. The boat went beutifully with no hiccups at all, the engine was a dream. Didn't do any fishing as it was our first trip but I have allready fitted 2 rod holders and intend to do plenty of fishing when the wind dies down. I will add some pictures next time we go out. Pete.

13ft Dell Quay Dory. Built 1985. Lightly used. Always kept out of water under a cover. Excellent condition with original fittings (including seats). Not anti-fouled. Evinrude E-TEC 25HP motor fitted by Poole Marine Services in 2012 - has been used less than 10 times and chekced and winterised by them (not used since then). New SBS roller trailer (also from PMS) in 2012 (less than 50 miles on road). Boat serviced by PMS at time of motor fitting - they will vouch for condition of boat. Safety equipment and life jackets also available. This is a rare opporunity to buy a classic small boat, ideal for fishing, water skiiing of just having fun. £4200 ONO. Located in Stoborough, Wareham. Contact Gordon MacPherson - 01929 555209, gordon.macpherson@path.ox.ac.uk, for further details.

Hi Martin. It looks like we are on the list? Sue is my lovely wife

Hi Lofty. I hope you win it, it is in really good nick, though I prefer the Carlisle carbon, bigger blade area, though the joint is better made on the Werner. Can't interest you in a nice Malibu X13 then

Thanks for the welcome guy's. We will be coming to the BBQ Saturday, will be good to speak to a few people about boats and fishing. I will also try to get to a few of the meetings.
-
Hi Rob. Unfortunately there is not really room to have a boat and trailer on the driveway or I would probably buy a 5 or 6 meter rib. I think I will be limited to something I can put in the back of the truck after the day out.
-
Thanks Brian. Looking forward to a lot more fishing now we are closer to the sea.

Thought I had better introduce myself ! My wife and I recently moved to Dorset from the Bedford area just about 2 months ago now, we have bought a place in Okeford Fitzpaine near Blandford Forum. Not exactly on the coast but a lot nearer than Bedford. I have done a fair bit of sea fishing from my kayak but we are selling the kayaks as my back has been complaining at me putting them on the roof of the 4x4 recently. So looking at buying a SIB that I can hopefully launch on my own if nessesary, something around 4mts with 15hp or thereabouts. Will probably wait to buy untill we have had a good look round at the upcoming boatshow. Went out of Studland bay with the kayaks earlier this week, caught a few mackeral which was fun. Pete.

Christchurch Harbour Entrance and Waterloo Compound
Member Removed replied to budgie's topic in Boat Talk
Budgie I am the Lower Stour manager for RDAA and we keep our club boat next to the slipway. Paul would be a good person to give you all the info you need about the harbour and entrance as he is always out. I also have a 20ft boat which I go out in and ( touch wood ) have never had any mishaps in the entrance in the last 20yrs, you will get used to when to go out and come in on various tides and conditions. Regarding safety at waterloo pool, in general very good, but is any boat i00% safe these days especially just before the Beaulie boat jumble. Good luck, Dave -
