  1. ffs Gordon - how can you post this on Christmas eve? so sorry for all your troubles - asked Santa to drop some squid down the chimney. was going to send an anchor but thought it might be a problem in a narrow cowl......................
  2. love your forecaster m8 - mine unfortunately suggests a SSW 3, possibly bottom of 4. coming of the back of lighter Easterlies there shold be little or no swell however.............

    G.p.s. Queery

no, nor rain, snow, nighttime, or the time of the month there is some debate around sunspots though.............. what's esential has never really changed - compass, chart and radar..............
  4. Healey's letter is here http://www.mbmclub.com/mbm/pdf/bmf.pdf sadely I don't put the same interpretation on it as others have been - we will just have to wait and see what happens next and when next is! however I do agree that next hasn't happened yet and that fuel should be available as before
  5. nice one Paul - large or small bait?
  6. glad you had a great time Simon - I'm heading out to the Tampa area - Sand Key - for a week late Feb; and this time I do get to fish !
  7. np trev - nice to see Otter running sweetly
  8. thought you would find the 500 uselful against the new toy martin............
  9. Phaeton will be heading out (weather permitting) again for this Poole event, with Dave and PaulJ (who's still celebrating his victory in last years event!) Any other club boats aiming to enter ?
  10. have to say this salt water fly lark is definitely the best non catching sport I have tried - right old pain at times but engrossing!
  11. certainly a 60 taken very close to where I believe Frank was fishing the previous day - good stamp of fish out in that deeper water if you can fish it. whatever - a great fish
  12. unlikely and, as the fish wasn't officially recorded it wasn't kept as a record. at the end of the day it was the angler's call for whatever reason
  13. Phaeton took a late run out - didn't get away until after 830 and had a nice run through the harbour; bothered only by Otter's wash.........called them but they weren't 'switched on'. Word with Frank passing the quay then on across the bay (over the cod apparantely) and joining the needles car park. looked around for a few new spots but eventually joined the rest after nothing there. reasonable day eventually - but patchy at the end we had a couple of good thornbacks, spotted ray, conger, dogs, pout and (a) channel whiting nice day to be out on the water but could have done without the swell, and the breeze..............
  14. I'm planning to get out as the weather looks the best for some time. However Phaeton has apparatly suffered further damage from the winds last week in additon to the previous Sat night's minor dings with the mid cleat and the boat having parted company...........this may be an easy repair; it may not! Mid cleats are like that! So down Sat to fix it and fishing Sunday if the weathe's good. Frankly I think I would rather not catch cod than not catch flounders so looking to head out somewhere - probably the car park........unless I pick up better info in the bar on Sat evening! Still as I am currently sat in Edinburgh anything's possible!
  15. cripes guys I am thinking about breaking th ehabitof a lifetime and actually fishing for these flounder things - the smoked trout tipped the balance! bet it's a flat calm day and I get tempted elsewhere though.................re charlie's question I am assumming that it's normal club rules? 7 hours between 0600 - 1800h, 2 rods, 2 hooks etc..........?

    ah the days of hair..............

thank you for that image Terry.............not! with Rich on the fight - I have only caught 2 'doubles' both in Autumn, and neither matched the fight from early season fish half the size. sort of seing an underlying truism here as well - it's not about the ones you take for the table; it's about the ones you put back............. tight lines
  18. Adam, Clearly you would need to sea trial the 630 to establish just how much of a pig it is - it's certainly possible for pigs to appear in a range despite outward similarities. With that engine and running around 18knots I would estimate you will be paying around
  19. good choice Martin - guess that's another one for the May flotilla next year?
  20. neadless to say she will be quick, to go with our Chairmans image
  21. impossibly to predict without a definition of 'it' but in any event you forgot the butterfly
  22. Starfisher8 ?
  23. all depends on how UK Gov proceed now Pete........ parity with European marine fuel has a huge logic and could be implemented effectively using the existing infrastructure should know more after Monday's meeting you can't ignore the price having more than doubled already in the last 2 years - it could probably stand an additional 15ppl duty or so , especially if the oil prices fell a bit!, but I agree if it goes to road fuel prices it will cause mahem
  24. meeting Monday I believe Charlie..........
  25. EU have just rejected the UK application for a further extension to derogation so now the real fun starts.............will the UK simply retain red but increase the duty to bring it into line with EU minimum levels (the sensible minimum admin option with comercials reclaiming the increased tax etc) or look to create a whole new raft of infrastructure, paperwork and stress with a requirement to shift to white for non comercial at current road prices - the tax raised going towards the cost of running it (unlikely to pay for it all according to most studies!). Ah well it's nearly Christmas..................
