I would agree with that and would rather take smaller fish and return the larger fish that are currently contributing to the increase in fish stocks by being of breeding size Martin

Dan I think you may be correct I also think you will find most members of pbsbac are conservation minded and only take fish for their own consumption which is great. Bass as you say do seem to be more prolific than previous years with several near double figure fish registered in the club catch ledger. I would place money that a large proportion of those fish were returned alive to the sea. Regarding cod, that is as you say a different story. With anglers catching them infrequently it is understandable that when they do catch the odd one it will be taken for the table. Last winter I tried cod fishing on several occasions but never caught one winter fish. Personally I never take fish to give away and only take the odd fish for myself. I do not however have a problem with others taking a few fish for their own consumption although crew on my boat would not be allowed to bag up to fill their freezers. Conservation should be an all encompassing issue not just concentrating on one particular species or area. We as anglers can do our part by policing our own activities and reporting those that abuse the current laws. Until the PTB get their act together and realise that fish in the sea are worth more than fish in the shops there's not a lot else we can do other than support the national angling bodies efforts Martin

not a lot really, very similar and owners of all breeds talk favourably of them. Kam you need to be on a boat thats flying before you can comment on the ride quality. I have seen countless boats that looked from a distance as though they give a beautifull ride in sloppy conditions until you talk to the owners and see them walking around with a stiff back etc. Even my warrior 195 will jar your back if driven hard. The trick is to drive to near the limit of comfort and have the best of speed in relative comfort without ending up with a broken back and ultra bright white knuckles. Martin

Geoff Firstly Please register in this forum, it costs nothing and makes life so much simpler, also makes the forum look better I cannot comment on MG boats as I have never been on one but DON'T on any account buy a boat without firstly having an hour or so afloat on one. Any dealer will arrange for a test to make a sale unless that is they have something to hide. They will either have a demo model or will have satisfied customers who would be only to pleased to show off their boat. It matters not that you have tested a similar boat, you are not buying a similar boat you are buying (maybe) an MG boat. The handling may be totally different even if the hull looks the same. Weight distribution, lay up, fitting out and a thousand and one things can have an effect on the way the boat handles. Would you buy a new car without a test drive? so why a boat, they cost as much or more in most cases Remember buyer beware (even when new) and you won't go far wrong Martin

Dan Hard luck mate, sad when a plan doesn't come together. Regarding the sailing club I would suggest a stern letter of complaint to the clubs commodore. He will be the top guy at that site and commodores usually take the reputation of there club and the actions of there members very seriously. Regarding the coastguard (if that's what he was) I would recommend taking his name or number and reporting him to the MCA (his peers) http://www.mcga.gov.uk/c4mca/mcga-home for leaving a craft in a dangerous situation. You were obviously left in waters to deep to wade ashore with no means of propulsion, my guess is he would be in very hot water Let us know how you get on Martin

If it is option 1 then you will need to get all the info you can prior to departing Weymouth. Be aware that the waters around Portland Bill (where we will hopefully be fishing) are pretty unforgiving with serious overfalls. Small boats need a very fair forecast to fish it.
