I've not tried looking for the Venezuela, yet. She's a bit further out than the Betsy. Should be a nice wreck though. 730 tons, 190ft long and lies north/south. Sits upright but sunk into the sand/gravel bottom. Depth 27m, rises to 4m (from Dove Dorset). BF

Nice report, Gordon. And well done with the anchoring and catch. It's not easy. Regarding the confusion with tide and position of the wreck, you might want to try setting the GPS Map setup to "North Up" rather than "Track Up". I find this easier when trying to position myself over a wreck or other mark. I drift over the wreck a few times with the track view showing on the GPS, and this will draw your drift lines (with North up). Then it's a simple cas of using the compass to point the boat back up the drift line and position the boat an appropriate distance from the wreck before dropping anchor. See, easy!!! cheers BF

My next door neighbour opened up his bosses work shop this afternoon and made short work of drilling and countersunking the SS keel band. Now need to touch up some small areas on the keel before kitting the band. Oh, and I will have to find a tube of "seekaflex" to seal and fix the screws. This is for my Alaska. The keel width is only 12mm wide. A 4 meter length of marine grade SS cost just

Welcome to the Forum Neil. Do you have the boat Sophanna? If so, welcome to PBSBAC also. BF

A quick tip in case anyone wasn't aware of it... When using your aux outboard you can still use the main wheel to steer the boat. Just tighten up the steering on the aux so that the boat moves forwards in a straight line, and then use your main wheel to steer the boat. No need to use the aux tiller. BF

Splash-Out will be there with young Rob as crew. BF

Albright is the one I use now. Easy to tie and small and neat which does not pick up weed. I secure it and stream line it with a dot of superglue, too. BF
