  1. Sorry Jimbo - its a no go for me - work commitments. Shame would have loved to have come.
  2. I commented to PD that when Jimbo and I started fishing this mark 4 years ago that we seldon saw many other boat on there! How different on Sunday - I couldnt even find a spot to drop anchor! With all that commotion I decided to play my other secret card and try another mark I had, but not fished for a few years. It worked all right and proved to be a good plan instead of being a sheep. Rach and I caught Bream, Pout, Wrasse and pollock steadily throughout the 3 hours we fished before the dreaded 'mal de mar' took hold of rach. We spent the afternoon bashing schoolies on spinners in the harbour. Surprize of the afternoon was 2 bull huss taken on bream tackle - the best went juts over 5lb! Adam
  3. Give me fat fresh bacon, wild boar sausages and fried eggs wrapped in a bap anyway - all washed down with a mug of tea!
  4. This is a combined event this year - the PBSBAC Bream comp and the Burnham to Poole leg of the comp on the same day. You are of course free to fish the bream comp anywhere in club waters within the usual rules, but if you wish to boost the numbers and combine the two events you will need to be at Baiter Slipway for booking in at 8am. The bream comp is free, but
  5. Skin drain fittings come fron chandlers, the drain tap from homebrew shops. Sorry for the short reply - pretty hectic at the moment!
  6. RESULT! Picked up Paul D who kindly offered to help - at Wick, 10.30am - by 11am we were drifting the ledge and by 12 we had 50 plump fresh macky in the cooler iced down - we were back on the slip by 12.30 and home for 1pm! All ready to feed them to the hungry turbies in the CI's!!
  7. Just on my way out now - aim is to bag 50 or so decent macky for this week. Ill let you all know how I get on!
  8. Have a good one chaps! All the best - Adam
  9. Just a thought for those going on the trip....we dont have any macky? The usual plan is to get a few on the way out, but as the wind looks to be building through the morning we may wizz straight over. Options: 1.) We could buy frozen, a few packs each would be a start or.. 2.) I could try and get out tommorow for a box of fresh ones - weather and wind dependant. Anyone else going out - donations gratefully recieved! Adam
  10. Its holding as you state above Tom. All of the forecasts I can see are giving Weds - Friday pretty nice, just windy on Tues. Worst I have seen is XC weather - usually pretty good as takes its readings from the channel light vessel - F5 midday on Tues. I think maybe an early start to break the back of it and then fish the deeps, leaving only a short run into Braye should it turn bad? Getting excited now - however its the worst time as we watch the forecasts update hour on hour. Worst still I cant go out tommorow to take my mind off it! Adam
  11. Look forward to seeing her out their Trev - and maybe fishing aboard her - I must admit I still fancy one... She's looking good though - does she have new anti-foul now?
  12. Try: N50 41.189 W1 47.811 Only a rough guess from my chart, but should be near. Its pretty rough, smooth all around and usually has a few pot buoys on it. Adam
  13. Barbs for table fish - no barbs for sport fish.
  14. Windguru are giving 4/5 Southerlies on tues with it getting better all week with 1/2 and 3's on the other days - Friday is looking the best. Metcheck is giving pretty much the same. Weather is looking to be a mixture of sunshine and showers with a little cloud. ....cant wait now! Finished work as well!!
  15. Due to a (very ) late cancellation I have one space going spare on the clubs trip to Alderney next week. We leave on Tues 2nd May and return on Friday 5th. Cost is

Guys - Please see the reply below from Jim Whippy - BFM editor: Hi Adam, Thanks for the email and the link to the club site. Have read all the comments and must say I agree with most of them. We have had a difficult time with UK features this winter and when you've kept a space for trips that are repeatedly cancelled you can't send out blank pages so foreign trips are used. My intention is to have a wide range of aticles as I've always strived to do and the UK content will be back on track in June issue. Your idea of an article using farmed trout will open a few eyes. Probably get moans from the anti live bait lobby but we editors have to take the flack so hit me with it. All the best to your club members, even 'Mad Mike' who seems the most put out, I'll have to feature him sometime to get him back on our side. Feel free to put this on the club site if you feel it will explain the situation to the members. All the best Jim Whippy
  17. Hi Camira, Very sorry to hear this news. She is a cracking boat which I know you havent had long - what a shame. Im sure you will sell her no problems, esp. with the mooring. Have you also put her on Boats and Outboards? Best wishes with the health issue - hope you are better soon. Regards Adam
  18. Was reading an article a few months ago. They connected a brand new PC to the WWW - without ANY virus protection to see what would happen.....5 mins is all it lasted - it was then so knackered it required a complete system re-install to clean it up! Like Martin and others I always keep the sortware bang up to date. Adam
  19. May tag along Sunday if the weather is nice - pushing it a bit with Alderney next week, but if I take the FPO (who is now a member I might get it through!)

Mike Y also had one of these today...beware. Mike - Im sure someone will be along shortly to sort out your horse problem...
  21. Duncan - 3/4's in any direction will be OK I'm sure for Pheaton. We left in a 6 last year and whilst it was hellish inshore, once 15 miles off wasnt all so bad - mid channel it doesnt matter where its coming from apart from if your going into it. I'm sure it will all be fine. Adam

I have already sent this link to Jim for constructive critisism. Tom - your comments are spot on.
  23. We deserve it (well I do anyway!! ) after two year's running of bad weather and only just making the island - I must admit it is all looking good - maybe too good... We never really know until 24 hours before hand Im afriad. Last year they were giving 6's & 7's the week before and then they mellowed it the day before - we just got over and the conditions improved all week. Adam
  24. A slow day also for BW and DR. With the small tides, we opted to head offshore and find some deeper water and a little tide. To be honest having a decent day's fishing took priority over the club comp. At first wreck started well and showed promise....James bagged a pout first drift and we all had tugs and plucks...another few drifts of the same and I hooked into a small cod of 6lb. Hopes high we continued to drift, but alas no more fish. We headed out further trying each new wreck as we went - all looked very fishy, but failed to produce the goods. Was a great day to be at sea though - even BW could have steamed to Alderney it was that flat! We also had a near miss with a tanker - this one was doing about 15/18 knots and appeared out of the gloom about 1/4 mile off our stern whilst drifting one of the wrecks - he was headed dead at us. As I was drifting I wasnt too concerned, just kept the engine running. He would have hit us, had I not moved. We saw a a chap on the bridge, who could quite clearly have seen us! I nudged BW about 50 yards forward and the boat steamed past - crazy! Anway, we anchored a wreck at slack for eels, but even they didnt want to play. Tried a couple of slow drifts on the shambles, but again not a sausage. The water was so clear the bottom could be seen at 40'! So to end the day we ended up back on the hook where we scored a few pollock and wrasse. That's it on BW now until mid may! Next week - Alderney!

Why not then? Asa you know I have been asked to submit the odd article to BFM now and then, and I am always looking for a new angle - articles on our comps get boring quickly after the first few. If Trev's in agreement Ill do one?
