  1. TRIP IS POSTPONED UNTIL LATER DATE - TBA Apologies for the lateness, but we were hoping for an improved forecast at 5pm - it hasnt come and whilst there is a small chnace we could get some fishing in it is a long way to go to turn around again - far better we thought to wait until another day. I have a few dates that I will check and post for the reschedule. Adam

  3. Just spoken with Dick - he says the weather today would be Ok, but if the forecast stays as F5/6 Southerly it will be a little much - I am going to call him after 5 tonight when the Met Office update and then take a view on it then - sorry its so late, but it really is 50/50. Adam
  4. Metoffice isnt good: Outlook for the following 24 hours: Wind: southeast 5 or 6, veering south. Weather: outbreaks of rain. Visibility: good or moderate. Sea State: moderate to rough. Ill get in contact with Dick @ Burnham this afternoon....Southerly is good, but at F5/6 its pushing it....

    Sikaflex??

I now have my 5mtr length of 50mmx5mm nylon courtesy of my frindly local trout farmer ....and intend to stick it to the bottom of BW as a sacrifical keel band. As it is lighweight and nylon, I intend only to Sikaflex it into position. 1.) Is this OK, or would a few (4ish) screws along the length be better? and 2.) Where can I get some Sikaflex - how much would I need, where is the best (cheapest!) place to buy or do any of you have a bit knocking around... Ta Adam
  9. Guys, Can anyone who is coming on this trip take another angler as crew? I have a member who wishes to come along but who has a moored boat. Please post here ASAP if you can take him. Regards Adam
  10. What are all you 165 owners paying for annual insurance? My renewal is
  11. Just heard from Dick at Burnham - he says the long range is 50/5- at the moment, they have struggled for cod this year, but their are a few around - thornies by the bucketload though! Fingers crossed for the weather.
  12. Trev, Many thanks for the delivery! Had a decent look last night, it seems ideal, wont last as long as SS but will be more forgiving and much, much easier to work with and fit. I intend to get on with it in the next few weeks, so Ill post when complete. Adam
  13. ...and the rules:
  14. Nope - you will feel lucky and priviledged after a day out there!! The tractor launches - one of you holds the boat - the other locks the trailer and parks the car across the road in the CP - about
  15. What's a fiver between friends?!?!
  16. Visited Lechlade Trout Fishery on Friday - corporate entertainment day.... managed to have a dabble myself and came away with 3 plump rainbows. They didnt quite look as appetizing as the fish from Rockbourne or even better the stock/wild fish from the Test - but tasted great tonight poached in 3/4 bottle of chardonnay with steamed veg and new potatoes...mmmmmm! Now need to get round to cold smoking the 4 sides of trout I have in the freezer!
  17. My keel rollers are held in place on the centre spline by a star lock washer at each end - any one know where I can get two replacements as I have lost my two - my google searches only bring up bulk engineering firms - I only need two washers! Adam

    Seat Pedestals

Hi Bob, I would go for metal pedestals as opposed to the plastic ones - basically more durable. I would also go for fixed height - the adjustable ones juts dont lock properly and once they start to slip thats it. The Warrior ones are pretty basic but bomb proof - Im not too sure where they come from - Ill have a look and let you know. Adam
  19. Nice one Charlie - all good, no.10 my favourite. Would make some good screen savers?
  20. For all of you who havent fished Burnham before, ot those who fished last year and have forgottern! Far from me being an expert, this is what we used last year; The water is like chocolate, and very shallow - 25-30 max in most places. Because of this uptiding is a favoured method as it enables you to fish outside of the 'scare' zone created by a boat in shallow water, casting downtide is another popular method. Rigs, therfore only need to be simple affairs that wont tangle when casting - a simple running ledger is good - attractor beads etc are a waste of time as the water is too coloured. Main line needs to be 15-25lb BS depending if you are on mono or braid. 12lb class rods or uptiders are ideal - the broom sticks we often use down here are not needed. Leads - grips are prefered - 6oz is about right, but it pays to have a selecetion, and a few plain leads for downtiding. Bait: Squid was the main bait last time. Crab, worm and mackerel can all be added if you wish. The key is to have plenty and rebait often. I think this covers it all - questions if you wish. Adam
  21. Gents, Map now atached to show the route - this is the way we went last year.
