Here's a clue..... Currently the new boat may not have a prop bag!!! Best prop bag I ever had was a Daily Echo delivery bag I found at Longham tip Bright yellow and tough as old boots. It was so good some bugger nicked it of my boat at home! Mad Mike

Flexicovers are a local firm (Bpournemouth/Poole) but upholstery work is generally very expensive, if you can DIY do so. If they are simple rectangles and you or the Mrs can do a 'Hospital bed' corner tuck on the material you can do a good job yourself. Your local Library will have a load of books about upholstery in fact I think I have a book about boat refurbishment that you are welcome to borrow. Mad Mike

LOA divided by 3 = beam are the classic dimentions for a displacement hull where speed is not the only factor. The same ratio works for loads of things. For the ideal balance in a photograph 1/3 subject 2/3 background just 'looks' right. The length of your feet are about 1/3rd the length of your leg. Mad Mike
-
The words 'sixteen foot beam' do not go together with the word ONLY!!! Any way 16ft is much nearer the 3 times beam = length ratio which makes boats look right. Mad Mike

Thanks Paul, actually I have found the Piplers on Poole quay are pretty competative according to theie web site. But nothing like the deal we got of JC. Mad Mike

Russia anglers saved in ice drama Hundreds of fishermen have been rescued from ice-floes which began to drift after breaking away from the shore in the Russian Far East. Boats and helicopters were used to reach the stranded anglers off Sakhalin island in the Sea of Okhotsk. Dozens had earlier refused to be rescued without their equipment and catches, officials said. The anglers had been fishing through holes drilled in the ice, a traditional winter pursuit for many Russians. About a third of Sakhalin is estimated to live off fishing, often carried out in perilous conditions. 'Intoxicated' Reports say the ice supporting the anglers - said to include women and children - broke free in a number of places in Mordvinov bay, on the south-east coast of Sakhalin. Pushed by strong winds, it began drifting out to sea. Operations mounted by the Emergencies Ministry rescued all 442 people who were adrift, although about 70 had initially refused to leave without their gear. One ministry official was quoted by Interfax news agency as saying many of those rescued were in a state of "heavy alcoholic intoxication". Mad Mike

Quote........of these have washed ashore and we are searching for the other 46." Apparantly one was full of human hair wigs. The Coast Guards say they are combing the area. One filled with cane sugar has collided with another filled with fresh strawberries. Marine agencies say this could cause a jam in the shipping lanes. A large quantity of Tippex is also missing So far the police have drawn a blank Mad Mike

Does anybody know about how brokerages get away with stating that a boat that is built in '04 is advertised as an '05.? Is thera a chassis plate of some description? Anyhow i agree that talk is cheap but luckily as you get older you do get wiser . I'd be very interested in a copy of the option to purchase if available. PM me Cheers jas Jasm first thing........ Brokerages like estate agents big get out is that they are only acting on information supplied by the current owner, and that they are only intermediaries. Second...... If you bought and commissioned from brand new ANY craft and took delivery in January or Ferruary and possibly even March it is a given that the boat will have been made the year before. However to ascertain which 'Model Year' a craft is there must be significant 'Dating Features'. To crystalise the point any craft comissioned early in one year was probably built the year before but it only matters if there is a big differance in desige or style between one season and another. Private or brokerage? Private I guess. Just by the by, a deposit only proves your good faith to the seller, not the sellers to you. BUT if you PAY the seller for 'An Option To Purchase' although the price of said option is not returnable to you, it is a BINDING contract that gives ONLY YOU the right to purchase the item within the stated time limit of the option. If the owner will not go through with the deal or sells the item to someone else, or even dies he or his succesors are bound by your right to purchase within the stated period of the option. This is upholdable in law and also gives you rights of compensation if the agreed contract is not completed. However to be fair, if you don't complete in time you are not entitled for a refund of the price of the Option to Purchase If needed I can draft out an Option to Purchase and email it through for future referance. A verbal contract is not worth the paper it's written on as they say!! Mad Mike
