  1. Thanks Bob, you are my GPS oracle Not the small black floaty things Welshmen use to go down the river to the coal mines in but the hairy old geezer sitting at the top of a mountain all knowing sort. A recent Tibetan expedition found the oldest and wisest oracle. They asked him "What is life all about?" Apparantly he said "It's 'Just a bowl of cherries" Mad Mike
  2. Having discovered that the H/P air cartridge on my boats hooter had dissapated over the winter I thought I would see if the hooter worked if it was connected to my H/P butain cylinder. Well it does and a very satisfactory hoot too. Also a 6ft long blue yellow flame I am considering keeping it like this as I see certain avantages Vis a Vis jet skis and WAFI's Mad MIke
  3. The origional Sea Nymph was sold as a complete boat, if yours is one of these can you sea the marks where the bunks were bonded into the hull? However the later Sea Nymphs which were made using the early moulds were sold by various people and some of these were sold as bare hulls with just the hull and the top bonded together. Some were even sold in a 'cuddy' format without even a rear bulkhead to the cabin. If you can't see where the interior moulding was bonded in, it may be that yours is one of the bare hull Sea Nymphs and never had an interior at all. Any way, what you put in is up to what you want to do with the boat. Remember that if you do a lot of interior construction in marine ply you will be adding a lot of weight. Do you intend to sleep in the boat? Or will slatted side benches do? If there is no bow bulkhead/ seat I would strongly recommend that you fit one for hull rigidity and strength. DO NOT FILL IT WITH BUILDERS FOAM!! The foam can absorb water if it hasn't cured properly and you can end up with 100lb of bow weight. You are far better off leaving it as a void with a small hole filled with a screw bung at the lowest point. Come back with a bit more info' on what you want to do with the boat but let simplicity be your guide, built in bogs and fitted kitchens 'cos Aunty Freda might come out on it once in a blue moon just don't work on a small boat. Mad Mike
  4. Thanks for the contact details Rich. The little devil has gone all contrite and has picked up about 8 sat's after leaving it to 'think'(?) in the garden for an hour?????????????? Now I can spend happy hours trying to learn how to use it. Mad Mike
  5. Sam - I'm sure they are removable, Just tie them onto the boat that you hit and reverse hard, they might come straight or they might come off. Either way your a winner Mad Mike
  6. I am a self confessed idiot when it comes to electronics and their operation so please forgive my lack of knowledge. I am trying to learn how to use my Garmin 76 hand held. A very nice man at Greenham Marine has reverted it back to factory settings for me, as I was getting confused byall the previous owners settings. The guy at Greenham said to turn it on and leave it in the back garden for an hour or so to enable it to aquire some satellites and it will eventualy go into a self actuated update download, I am assuming that this is good advice??????????? Any way my problem is (not understanding why) that in some parts of the garden, the box beeeps and tells me it can not aquire any satellites, but if I move a few feet it then finds some (3), and yet another move and it's back to none or just one. Surely the thing can not be that sensitive to me moving about within about a 20' radius? If so how the heck does it work in a moving boat or car? Mad Mike
  7. Ah, small world Sam! It was Tech' Tubes that I was thinking of too. Mad Mike
  8. Prakstone? I didn't know you knew the Praks? Any road up........ Your pulpit.......... Can it be removed? as that is probably the only way your going to get the bend out and stand a reasonable chance of getting a good reshape. There are several 'tube bending and welding' guys about who I can put you in touch with but the problem is IMO they are not cheap (but mind I am a tight wad ). One possibility is to cu out the bent section and weld in a replacement. However IMHO if you can live with it then get on as it is and wait untill someone hits you. (Don't laugh, I KNOW this has been done in the past by quite a few owners ) Mad Mike
  9. Paul,I now have a small black toroid with knobbly bits in my possession Collect any time except I will be out Sat but you might find others of the clan here. Mad Mike
  10. Ahh Kimmeridge! I would have a chat with Bob F, he is our Kimmeridge expert Mad Mike
  11. Interesting to ponder the torque in ft/lb of the Honda Vs the weight of the Orkney. Could she pop off the top of a wave and rotate round the engine What this club needs is a good cartoonist to put life into all the bl00dy stupid ideas that come up Mad Mike

  14. the wives actually do like to get out on the water now and again just so long as the tub doesn't bob about two much I am suprised that they don't walk on water like mine tells me she can. As for the bumpy waves, Carol behaves like a Valkyrie having a Saturday off. She finds ploughing through a lumpy sea exhilarating........... Mad Mike

  19. Next time Mike, give her your finest leer and suggest you start with the bedroom. It's got me summarily evicted to the garden before now Steve Brilliant, that sorta thing takes real cunning or maybe a lot of guts Mad Mike
  20. Well, the kettle will be bl@@dy cold by then won't it! Ahh, bless Tom I would love to have come as Carol had just gone into the hands on hips 'This house is filthy' mode. Meaning of course the were two strands of cotton on the new carpet and the TV stand hadn't been sandblasted and chrome plated for at least 10 minutes. But I am stuck here because Morgans (my son) girl friend (live in lover as we like to call her) has just been brought back from hospital having had her appendix removed. (now I'll never know how the book ended) but she does have a very nice preface Mad Mike
  21. Kettle is on! Is that the same as 'The Eagle has landed' ? Mind you having tasted your coffee it might be more of a case of 'Huston, we have a problem!' Mad Mike
  22. I'm gonna be philosophical and I don't mean change my name either Reading all these posting about rod rings it has made me think how technical and science orientated things have become. My first ever fishing rod was one I made with two garden bamboo canes, bent paper clips, and those screw eyes that are used on curtain wire. The reel was a 1s (one shilling) ally' center pin and my line was 25yds of the then new monofillament. I was six or seven at the time. The reel was held on with elastic bands. Now I know that these days we need the tackle we use to fish the places we go to, but I wonder if we get the same pleasure
  23. Sorry Dave You are on. You too Martin 1 more then for the first shoot. DATES please.... along with some flexibility. Tom Can I come and play with my boat too please? One never normaly gets a chance of having photies of ones own boat clattering along. Mad Mike
  24. Maverick moans......Yes it's true it's Doms 24th birthday today so does this mean he has growed up and we can kiss good bye to his infant style of humor. Happy birthday chum and don't change the humour, it's what keeps you young! I'm 62 and have an innocent child like sense of humour and I love it Mad Mike
