    Holiday

IMO your best bet would be Rockley Park in Poole which has hundreds of the big static type mobile homes for rent, and a boat park and slipway. http://www.primrosevalleycaravans.co.uk/rockley-park.htm http://www.havenholidays.com/holidaysearch...nkid=/main.aspx (scroll down to the Rockley Park page) http://www.caravansrockleypark.co.uk/ and others. 2. Yes, me too. Mind you a small effort to be able to use this exquisite and exciting site. One can only dream of being good enough to be invited to stay no matter the difficulties. Whinecringegrovelgrovelsniff. Mad Mike

    Talking Frog

An old guy was fishing from his boat in Poole harbour. He heard a voice saying "Lift me out!" . He looked into the water and saw a frog swimming by the boat. "Lift me out!" said the frog in a somewhat impatient manner. So he did. "Listen" said the frog, "If you kiss me I will turn into a beautiful young woman, and I'll pleasure you in any way you want". The old man slipped the frog into his pocket. "Wait" screamed the frog, "don't you want a beautiful woman?" "Nah" said the old man, "At my age I'd rather have a talking frog" Mad Mike
  6. Bloody ridiculous even more than Cobbs!! And they have a very distinct take it or leave it attitude. Their slip too is not a patch on Cobbs and in the summer with the sailing school and grockles it's bloody murder. Mad Mike
  7. How did you get on with this problem? If you are still stuck try disconecting the engine from the steering to ensure that it is not the engine that has stiff rotation. Mad Mike
  8. I have hear through a friend of a Honda 50 4 stroke power tilt for sale. I don't know the price or anything about it but if anyone wants the contact details to find out more give me a shout. Mad Mike

  15. I just have to add my six pennyworth (Sam ask your dad about sixpence's). Modern O/B have solid state ignition it either works or it don't..... Need to service? zero Two strokes, no valves & apart from cyl wear on very old or high use engines no servicing needed apart from plugs and the owner can do this. Mechanical control links lubricated by owner. Need to service? zero. G/Box oil, change annualy by owner need to service? nil The best advice given by many many automotive engineers is "If it works do not fix it!" After many years in the motor trade and a bit over 50 years of boat owning I feel quite comfortable in my attitude. Touch wood, I have never had a problem with an outboard that needed a dealer to look at. But I do see (as with motor cars) that some owners of engines are always worried that there may be something 'not quite right' about theirs and it is these guys that always seem to get troubles and big bills. To my mind there must be a causal link but I have no idea what that would be. The more sophisticated and or complicated an engine is, the higher the chances are of potential problems, that must be a given. The two engine manufacturers that seem to have a reputation for making 'bullet proof' O/B's are Tohatsu (Nissan) and Susuki. Both these guys primarily design for the far east third world market where service depot are far and few between. This is probably why they are successful in that area over the more sophisticated engines that require expensive workshops and equipment to maintain. If one wants reliability and low cost of service the choice would be Tohatsu or Susuki two strokes. If one wants an engine at the leading edge of technology then higher OVERALL running cost may have to be taken into account. eg
  16. Well as you said it first......... Ahhhhhg It's horrible! What was the page designer on at the time? Vodka and Evo Stick? Well as the late great Kenny Everett woulda said "I was done in the best poossible taste" ............Not Mad Mike

  20. Yes, your right I do remember those days, but also there is this thing in the back of my mind about this 'jellied vasaline' residue that would occur in coldish (not freezing) weather. The stuff used to turn up in the fuel pipes and water trap filter. One would find in the glass water trap one layer of water one layer of heavy oil (no ether left in it as it had become disolved in the water) and the gunge I am talking about. It happened mostly on the standing tanks that held the fuel for the steam cleaners. Mad Mike
  21. It was not antifreeze or freezing that I was talking about. It was the fact that the emulsified water content held within the ether/heavy oil formula, can in certain cicumstances allow a vasaline like sludge to develop. Low temperature coupled with a relatively stationary fuel can cause this to happen. I was aware that there were addatives added to diesel in the winter months that help it to stop jellifying. 22. I tried cruising past Southbourn Overcliffe and this policeman told me to move on and anyway I could catch something bad? Did he mean litte crabs or even a cod piece? Mad Mike
  23. You gotta point there have you buddy? Hu!Hu! A man and his reinforced gussets should not be mocked Mad Mike
  24. You could try to clean the fuel the fuel by filtering it through a pair of ladies tights. However it is best to remove the girl from the tights first of all. Mad Mike
  25. Somewhere in the back of my mind this rings a bell......... Summat to do with cold weather and hydrocarbon solids precipitating in the fuel due to water that was emulsified in the fuel separating out leaving a sort of vaseline like goo. There is a cold weather addative that can be added to diesel to stop this happening. I hope this helps. Mad Mike
