  1. Thank you for the welcome messages guys, much appreciated....as for the attempt at humour I guess its only fair that you all know from the outset what's in store? Maybe the club treasurer will want to refund my Paypal payment before it gets any worse? You really should have clearly defined membership criteria which specifically excludes the insane! PMSL In the meantime I can always revert to "bashing my minnow"
  2. Tried to resist it but have to ask Will pinky be with you?
  3. Thanks Martin, Should be able to recognise you from one of the WSF Weymouth meets when I still had the QS500. Regards, Paul
  4. Hi Charlie, Many thanks for posting the info, just paid my subs for the PBSBAC so may even be a club member by then! Using the same ID here as I do on WSF and realised after we had spoken this morning that I already had a login on here from my last "Grokelling" trip to Poole. Hope to meet up with some of the members while down your way. Your help and advice to day much appreciated! Paul
  5. Picture added, boat looks better than the owner so best recognise me from that Should be berthing up at Parkstone so will see if I can find the meeting. Cheers, Paul
  6. Planning to come down to Poole again later this week so thought I'd get the moth holder out and join this club. Not sure what happens next? Hopefully don't need to learn any dodgy handshakes or roll the trouser leg up? Should be arriving Thursday then hopefully get some fishing in over the following 10 days. I've met a few of you guys at he WSF Weymouth meets, I log in as "Lilbrit" over there as well, my first boat being called Little Britain. I now fish from a QS620 called Eileen (named after me dear old Ma!) Anybody wanting a day out get in touch and we will see what can be sorted. Is there anywhere in the area I can fill up a biggish coolbox with ice? Look forward to meeting some of you and swapping a few porkies about the one that got away.
  7. Following the success of the last trip I'm visiting Poole again next Sunday for a few days. Anybody interested in a chat in the evening or a day out on the boat get in touch. Not taking the dog this time so will be able to eat out (and drink) more easilly. Thanks to all for the info last time!!!!
  8. Many thanks for all the info. Cobbs Quay was a success and the staff very helpful, highly recommended! The weather was a bit iffy but it gave me a couple of days to chill out. Caught a whole load of mackerel, some small bass on the mackerel feathers that were carefully put back and a couple of real stonkers that really made the trip worthwhile! Best fish were 12, 8 and 7 so good fun. I had a motor round to Christchurch on one day when the weather calmed down and caught a couple of smaller bass, one tiny one took a trolled Rapale style lure that was about the same size as the bass, they sure are greedy little blighters.
  9. Thanks for all the replies guys!!! I asked at Rockley and there were a couple of issues: I could only launch/recover on a daily basis, no facility to leave the boat in all week. The price was more than Cobbs quoted for slipway, pontoon berth and inclusive car parking. In the past we've launched from Swanage and sometimes motored round to fish in Poole harbour mouth by the chain ferry. I hope to take the ankle biters out for a couple of short day sessions but also to get away and look for some decent Bass as I get the impression the Bass fishing could be picking up? I thought the harbour was some sort of Bass nursery, I've caught and returned a few small ones there in the past. The nippers won't be too bothered what they catch so if we can get out for some mackerel that could be favourite on light gear with just a couple of feathers on each rod. Are there any flatfish around at this time of year? Paul J
  10. Bit cheeky to ask questions with such a small number of posts but I'm planning to visit Poole from this Saturday for a week with my boat and would be very interested in any advice you local guys might like to share. I plan to put the boat in at Cobbs Quay for the duration as they apparently provide car parking on site as part of the berthing deal. Maybe I should explain briefly that living way inland (Northants) and keeping my boat at home means that any trip to the coast is a fair trek, the upside is that it allows us to travel all over the place rather than being fixed to one particular coastal area. As this is our first year of sea boat fishing it is a steep learning curve, which although enjoyable, can be frustrating at times. A lot of my previous fishing experience has helped but there are still lots of things to learn. Building up a bit of initial knowledge for each area is helpful before visiting, one gradually gets to know the wrinkles at various harbours and launch sites. We've been out from Swanage a few times launching round by the lifeboat station, several times from Newhaven but as I'm hoping to take the grandchildren out some of the days (weather permitting) thought a berth in Poole would be ideal. We've booked a static caravan at Rockley Park for the week so worst case they can be entertained on site. If the weather isn't too bad I can take them for a bit of a dabble in the harbour, not sure what species might be about this time of year? If fairly calm I guess there shopuld be a few mackerel about inshore, I'd also like to find some interesting areas to try for bass on the days when I go out on my own. I've had some useful tips from the guys over at WSF where I usually post but was advised by one of the PBSBAC members that it might be worth asking here as well. Any info would be much appreciated Paul
