Adam F Posted May 10, 2011 Report Posted May 10, 2011 This Sunday is our Bream Comp usual rules apply - best specimen per angler. There are plenty around at the moment so we should see some good fish recorded. Book in here please if you intend to fish. At the moment the weather for Sunday is looking pretty breezy - if we do go to Alderney Ive asked Bob Fuller to make the call on whether the comp goes ahead, if I dont go then I'll be around to make a call - we will try and make this decision by Sat morning latest. Sunday is also the Poole SAC Bream comp - this comp has prizes so you may want to fish both! 1.) Adam F - JV (only if Alderney is cancelled!) Quote

Mike Fox Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 (edited) There is a real risk of a sailing boat winning the club bream comp this year, as all boats registered so far will probably be in Alderney, and no-one else seems to be entering 1.) Paul D Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 Alderney is in club waters - so could catch one over there I assume ( although I suspect that we will be miles from the bream marks Quote

Bob F Posted May 14, 2011 Report Posted May 14, 2011 Inshore forecast at 12:00 today (Saturday) is: 24 hour forecast: West or northwest 4 or 5. Mainly slight. Showers, becoming fair later. Good. Outlook: Northwest backing west, 4 or 5. Slight, occasionally smooth in the solent. Fair. Moderate or good. As most of the Bream grounds are close to shore and there are sheltered areas with this wind direction, the comp is ON. But, skippers must make their own decisions on the day. The Poole Sea Angling Centre comp is also still going ahead. Quote
Mike Fox Posted May 14, 2011 Report Posted May 14, 2011 Thanks Bob. Good luck all... Hope some of the kayak chaps can join in too ! Mike Quote

Jim Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 Good luck All of you. Just got back from Cornwall and Mum still in hospital. It'll be a while yet before I get out. Jim Quote
alfie Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 Well after an eventful start to the day, leaving the bait in the car ..... we eventually passed Stuie and crew in Sea Dream on the patch and headed out to Christchurch. It wasn't long before the knocks started, a few small pollock, a couple of mackeral and then Sally bought in a Bream which she successfully bought on board weighing we belivered to be over 2lb. Followed shortly after by Alfie, another male but slightly smaller The fishing came to an abrupt end due to the change of weather and sea conditions, so we pulled up and headed home. We weighed the fish on the gauge which read 2lb but when we got home we put them on kitchen scales Sally's bream 1lb 8oz, Alfies bream 1lb 4oz. Hope everyone from Alderney had a safe trip listening on the radio it sounded as if it was slow going on the return. Our non member today enjoyed his day apart from feeling and looking very green . All in all a good day apart from Sally being able to rib me all week until next time, the sooner the better Regards Alfie Quote
