Gnasher Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 for the twitchers amongst you, there has been a rose coloured starling in my mums back garden in hordle for the few days. I'm not really interested myself, but I know they had more than 100 people pretty much sat outside outside her drive on a daily basis! Quote
Jim Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 I was at St. Michael's Mount in Cornwall a few years ago and saw a family of Starlings with a bright red stripe on the front of their heads. I had never seen anything like it before. I asked a few questions when I came back and was told it was pollen. They feed from a certain type of flower for a very short period each year, and the pollen dyes their feathers. Anyone know if that's correct ? ? ? It was quite spectacular. Jim Quote
