I believe that this subject has been discussed at Meetings and by Committee many times. We have even tried Sat comps without any increased turnouts

 

Perhaps its time to put up a poll again, to see what Members think.

 

It is a tough one trying to please Members while working with forecasts and changing weather.

IMHO it is not one that Neal should have to answer on his own.

 

There are a few other things to consider, the main one being safety.

Just as an idea knocking round, what about a bigger window say sat and sun but member only allow to fish 1 nominated day?

Personally I don't/can't fish the comps because I have to work weekend.

 

Just as an idea knocking round, what about a bigger window say sat and sun but member only allow to fish 1 nominated day?

I'm not against it Kam, but it would give a big advantage to anyone able to get out mid-week.

Needs to be discussed by people who fish the comps and hope to win.

I don't expect to win so not affected so much.

Jim, Kam is recommending Sat and Sun as per my suggestion.

 

Pick your day before you go. Yes, sometime someone might pick the wrong day and get weather that wasn't forecast - but that is just luck!

 

I just think that it could:

 

1: double the attendance if weather on both days was fishable

2: save a postponement if one day is ok and one bad

No weigh-in or entrance fee, just a friendly cod comp. weigh the fish on boat as lowest stable weight, or accurately on land if you intend to eat the thing!!!

I will be fishing in the poppy appeal beach competition so I will be the one with the sad face due to fantastic weather for boating and not able to run engine still, but hey I will wave to those leaving rockley park wishing them gods speed and good catches as rockley beach will be my venue for the day!!!
