Hi everyone.

 

Wondering if anyone has a bearing puller i could use,and maybe a press to fit the new one if needed?

Hi Jamie,

 

That looks like Bronze to me.

So if it's a bronze fitting and a steel bearing, stick it on a baking tray in your wife's nice clean oven with the open end down.

The bronze will expand more than the steel.

When it get's hot the bearing should fall out. ( I hope )

I used this method for removing the main bearings from my old Triumph motorbikes ( many years ago )

Try packing the gap with grease, get a bit of wood ( dowel / broom handle ) AND GENTLY TAP IT IN........the pressure should displace the bearing................ that used to work for me most of the time, good luck.

Isn't the hole in the housing slightly larger than the bore of the bearing, if so you should be able to push it out.

If that isn't an option, a suitable sized rawbolt, tightened up in the bore of the bearing will give you something to push/hit.

Thanks for all the help. Using a bit of all the advice i got it out.

 

Still have the one on the shaft/pressing the new ones in.

 

Nige. Ud be a star if i could pop in ur garage sometime for tht? Whens best.
