Adam F Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 I dont know much about these, hence my reason for posting - I just wanted a bit of info. I was considering some for BW, as she is very sensitive to weight distribution and lists to one side with 3 on board unless the crew are strategically positioned. Would trim tabs cure this? Are they suitable for a boat of my size? What to choose - Auto, Manual, electric or hydraulic? Are they easy to fit? Thanks in advance for your info. Af Quote
Maverick Martin Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 Adam Maverick is fitted with manual hydraulic trim tabs (didnt know they did auotmatic) and are brilliant for trimming out a boat, it saves all the hassle of moving kit around the boat. They would definately work on BW They are I believe very easy to fit although I haven't personally fitted any. Come out on Maverick sometime and have a play. After that you'll want some Martin Quote
Paul J Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 Adam, Your crew need to go on a diet after the Christmas hols Quote
shytalk Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 i have just fitted a set of tabs to tiger lily couldnt be easier the electric ones (lectra tabs) seem the easier than the hydraulic ones you just need to make sure that you have enough space on the transom Quote
Adam F Posted January 18, 2005 Author Report Posted January 18, 2005 OK - Thanks for the info - must admit, I thought the advice woas gunna be to leave them alone on a small boat!! Ill get hunting around the web then! From what I have seen, the automatic ones cant be adjusted when under way, they just balance the weight out automatically so not to sure how good they would be - these are the cheapest option I think. Hyrdaulic seem the best but are expensive, so electric seem a good bet. AF Quote
Brian Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 Take at look at http://thehulltruth.com/forums/forum-view.asp?fid=4 It's a Trim Tab Discussion Forum hosted by Tabman who is a Bennett Rep, I gave him the details of my boat and he advised which size and type I should fit. Quote
