Very lucky and a pleasing outcome but

 

Compass gave out ?

Forgot to bring mobile phone ?

 

1) no marine radio of any kind

2) I find it dubious that their compass could malfunction and show wrong reading.

3) no gps

... Happens all the time. How can the compass be expected to point the right way if it can't see where it's going?
