charlieannear Posted August 20, 2015 Report Posted August 20, 2015 Hmm, this might be very busy if the weather carries on like today for the Air Festival! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
Coddy Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 I will be there, so if you want to bring your life jackets down we can check them out for you Quote
Leicester Fisheagle Posted August 22, 2015 Report Posted August 22, 2015 Went down to the Open Day and was well impressed. Had my life jackets checked as one of the ones I was bought as a present was an hammer action one with the cylinder built into the bladder. The firing mechanism had to be prised out of a silicon type gasket with a coin and was fiddly to refit. Was shown some of the Kru jackets which I was very impressed by. Very snug fitting, no neck rubbing and built in spray hood and crotch straps and easy to check/replace firing mechanisms/cylinders. Will investigate these further.Took a few pictures while we were down there and saw the new facility with various lifeboats (water propelled 25 knot jobs). Started to realize how much work we don't see goes into fitting them out. Perhaps Dave will still have enough energy to put a few snaps up this evening after today's crowds.Wondered if I should have gone fishing when I saw Sea Dream, Frisky Fox, Reel Magic? and a few other Club boats coming back from their forays in the Bay. sparky Posted August 22, 2015 Report Posted August 22, 2015 Went there today also.........but I think a fiver to park was a bit steep !! Decided not to pay that and left, shame really as I fancied going......... a lot of people had the same idea as me and turned round. Will always support the lifeboats via their contribution boxes, masses of people parking in ASDA and walking back. they would have made a lot more money if the parking charges had been more reasonable !!!! Leicester Fisheagle Posted August 22, 2015 Report Posted August 22, 2015 No probs parking in Asda and walked through the side gate to the right of the store.Ann had the car cleaned by the valeters and we left it in one of their free reserved bays for nothing then shopped after the visit. Quote
sparky Posted August 22, 2015 Report Posted August 22, 2015 So you decided not to pay the fiver either Allan ? Quote
Leicester Fisheagle Posted August 22, 2015 Report Posted August 22, 2015 Didn't know there was parking inside, thought it would be reserved for the disabled and special needs. However, we gave well more than the recommended donation. Did the £5 include the suggested voluntary £2 per person contribution? Quote
Brian Posted August 22, 2015 Report Posted August 22, 2015 We went on our bikes. Ark and Leicester Fisheagle 2 Quote
Rob Posted August 22, 2015 Author Report Posted August 22, 2015 I fancied going......... Well only £4.99 or less of fancying!!! I expect due to limited parking they have to restrict it, plus this money would no doubt be going directly to charity funds. I think a tenner for those who don't want to walk a few yards would be acceptable. Quote
Stuie Posted August 23, 2015 Report Posted August 23, 2015 Rob, Sea Dream is out of the water having an engine rebuild - there is another Sea Dream that is not a club boat though. Quote
Leicester Fisheagle Posted August 24, 2015 Report Posted August 24, 2015 Thanks for putting up the pictures Dave. Allan. Quote
Leicester Fisheagle Posted August 24, 2015 Report Posted August 24, 2015 Using Oli's guide, I am going to try to put up a picture from my tablet gallery rather than asking other people. Quote
Leicester Fisheagle Posted August 24, 2015 Report Posted August 24, 2015 Hope this works. Last one didn't. Think I forgot to press add file Success at last. Ark 1 Quote
Adam F Posted August 24, 2015 Report Posted August 24, 2015 I wished I could have gone - would have loved to have seen them being built! Quote
charlieannear Posted August 24, 2015 Report Posted August 24, 2015 We went down yesterday- fantastic facilities they have there Quote
Leicester Fisheagle Posted August 24, 2015 Report Posted August 24, 2015 Maybe it is something the Club could organise for members as we have several contacts there. There were areas I would have liked to seen , but it was too busy, for example, the Sea Survival Building. The bar and meals also looked inviting. Adam F and 2006holmwood 2 Quote
Rob Posted August 24, 2015 Author Report Posted August 24, 2015 You can go to the bar or restaurant if you are an RNLI member / supporter. They even have a hotel (the training accommodation used mid week) you can book for friends / family. Quote
Leicester Fisheagle Posted August 24, 2015 Report Posted August 24, 2015 Have had drinks and Sunday Lunch and recommended it to my Sister and husband when they were in Poole.Believe the restaurant and bar are open to the public, at least for Sunday Lunch . Didn't know about the hotel. Have some french friends who are keen sailors who have asked my to find some where in Poole, could fit the bill. Quote
Adam F Posted August 24, 2015 Report Posted August 24, 2015 Can we organise a club trip? 2006holmwood 1 Quote
