Rob Posted September 11, 2015 Report Posted September 11, 2015 Bu99er, there go our 121 new reefs that could have brought fantastic life to the area! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-34220834 Quote
Mal Thomas Posted September 11, 2015 Report Posted September 11, 2015 The story could follow the pattern of the Heathrow additional runway, off this year but back on the agenda next year. You may not have lost your new reefs just postponed for now. Quote
Maverick Martin Posted September 11, 2015 Report Posted September 11, 2015 Not sure they will have any other avenues open as I would of thought the government was their last route of appeal? Quote
Steve S Posted September 11, 2015 Report Posted September 11, 2015 I think it is dead in the water unless they can push them further out or use lower turbines. Pity. Quote
Mal Thomas Posted September 11, 2015 Report Posted September 11, 2015 Watch this thread over the next year or two, someone has invested a fortune and u turns are always possible. Heathrow has been defeated many times but its back on the agenda. Quote
Greg Posted September 11, 2015 Report Posted September 11, 2015 Heathrow is not near a World Herritage Site! Quote
Mal Thomas Posted September 11, 2015 Report Posted September 11, 2015 I agree Greg, although the south coast is not exempt from producing power and sites are limited, other coasts around the country have had some carbuncles landed on them and I tend to think that a compromise might be found whether it be smaller or further offshore it might happen. Not in my back yard gets my vote but that doesnt carry much weight. Quote
alun j. Posted September 17, 2015 Report Posted September 17, 2015 I think one of the key factors [ other than the 'out at sea' issues] is the nedd to make a motorway - wide trench to take the cable from Barton to Mannington Heath... and all the 'backyards' and environmental issues this would cut through. Greg Posted September 17, 2015 Report Posted September 17, 2015 What a great result. Just think when we take those special pictures of specimens we won't have to worry about the pictures being interrupted by some giant wind turbine in the background. Quote
Rob Posted September 17, 2015 Author Report Posted September 17, 2015 But I was hoping for tuna to congregate around the reefs! Sam and Matt 2 Quote
gjb Posted September 17, 2015 Report Posted September 17, 2015 It seems the diinosaur still rule this coast line and yes we want geen power as long as it's not near us Quote
Coddy Posted September 26, 2015 Report Posted September 26, 2015 How about a nice power station pumping out hot clean water? That would attract a few fish! A neuk station built by the Russians would be handy!!! That would get the "not in my back door" peeps up in arms  Quote
