Adam F Posted January 10, 2016 Report Posted January 10, 2016 9 days late, as most of you know this is traditionally the New Years day posting! The last few years the trips have dwindled a little as most of us that go know what we are doing and tend to go in smaller groups now. The logistics is easier with only a couple of boats, but it's good fun with a group and gives those who haven't been before a chance of safety in numbers. Personally I'll be looking to go around early May time and then again in Aug for Alderney week as it was such great fun last time! So there you go - a trip to brighten the mood amidst all this wind and rain.... dreaming of blue skies, flat seas and big fat flatties! niggle 1 Quote
Peter Posted January 10, 2016 Report Posted January 10, 2016 May well be the next time we get out if this weather goes on!!!!!!!! Depressed of Edington Quote
Steve S Posted January 10, 2016 Report Posted January 10, 2016 I'm planning to take Tigerfish over at least once this year. Targeting most probably early May for the first weather window. As ever small tides are prefered. I really enjoy the different sort of fishing there if we can make a trip during Alderney week that adds another dimension, this year I want to be holding a torch . Taking 2 or 3 crew, no names confirmed yet. Bramble banker 1 Quote
Maverick Martin Posted January 10, 2016 Report Posted January 10, 2016 I am up for it this year but Dean will almost certainly not be able to attend the earlier May dates so I will be looking for 1 or 2 crew. The only week end I can't make is the 22nd May due to Dean getting married, fancy planning your wedding around the usual Alderney dates Quote
Rob Posted January 10, 2016 Report Posted January 10, 2016 ^what a wally! Like those who have kids born around that time too (not me but I could name a couple!!!) Maverick Martin 1 Quote
great white Posted January 10, 2016 Report Posted January 10, 2016 Was looking at early May, when Wendy is off on a cruise for a week with my sister, but when I got home I found that the tides are huge Still interested but will have to be a weekend of smaller tides and crew dependant. Matt Posted January 10, 2016 Report Posted January 10, 2016 I've never managed an Alderney trip in consecutive years so not even thinking about it. Quote
Wight Magic Posted January 11, 2016 Report Posted January 11, 2016 Yes I'm up for it May is good or even late April Dave Quote
Adam F Posted January 11, 2016 Author Report Posted January 11, 2016 Smaller tides on 1st or 3rd week in May, so as a starter I would suggest aiming initially at Friday 29th coming back May 2nd? Back up would then be 2 weeks later 13th to 16th. Bramble banker 1 Quote
Oli Posted January 11, 2016 Report Posted January 11, 2016 Definitely keen again this year. Unfortunately can't do either bank holiday weekend but could do the 2nd option. We're also looking at maybe doing a 3 nighter with 1 night exploring Guernsey, so possibly something like: Day 1: Poole > Schole bank > St Peter Port Day 2: St PP > Schole / Casquets (depending on how day 1 went) > Braye Day 3: Schole / Casquets > Braye Day 4: Wrecking > Home Quote
Maverick Martin Posted January 11, 2016 Report Posted January 11, 2016 That's the dates I was thinking would suit Adam Oli I like your idea of St Peter Port for a change. I have only done Guernsey once before but it was a pleasant experience without the walk up the hill to deal with I would be up for something along those lines Quote
Mike Fox Posted January 11, 2016 Report Posted January 11, 2016 St. Pete has the advantage of pontoons in the outer harbour, allowing both walk ashore access and exit without tidal restrictions. Also, plenty of choice of eateries. A third option if in the area is Dielette, due East of the Schole, and below the Race. Free berthing for MDL boats for a couple of nights, all tide access to the outer marina, fuel 24*7 with a card, and superb unlimited moules frites for about 11 Euros. Mike Kingfisher 126 1 Quote
Adam F Posted January 11, 2016 Author Report Posted January 11, 2016 Guernsey was the JV crew's choice for the first trip too. However I have a rod exchange to sort with Mark, so I may still need a visit to Alderney, and hence like your idea Oli. Quote
Neal Posted January 12, 2016 Report Posted January 12, 2016 Just to let you know, although Alderney usually takes preference....... The proposed date for the Poole Sea Angling Centre / PBSBAC - Bream Comp is 22nd May only saying,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Quote
Peter Posted January 12, 2016 Report Posted January 12, 2016 Redfin will be going. Probably space for 1 or 2 crew if anyone interested. Like the idea of Gurnsey for a change Peter Quote
fisherman1055 Posted January 12, 2016 Report Posted January 12, 2016 I am looking to go to Alderney this year subject to reorganised dates May take Serenity, and will need crew Or looking to join another boat as crew Tony Quote
Maverick Martin Posted January 14, 2016 Report Posted January 14, 2016 I have now pinned this thread for ease of organising I now also have 1 crew member so can go yippee Quote
jerry.shutter Posted January 14, 2016 Report Posted January 14, 2016 Dependent on dates I would love to crew should any one require it Quote
Rob Posted January 14, 2016 Report Posted January 14, 2016 Dependent on dates I would love to crew should any one require it sorry, you need to take your new boat! Maverick Martin 1 Quote
Maverick Martin Posted January 14, 2016 Report Posted January 14, 2016 Jerry I would love to have had you on board but I am all crewed up at the moment. Others maybe looking for crew or as Rob says you could take your new boat (assuming it is here by then), you would not be short on help and advice and could buddy up with one or more other boats going. Dependent on dates I would love to crew should any one require it Quote
LilBrit Posted January 28, 2016 Report Posted January 28, 2016 I'll keep an eye on this thread and see if any dates firm up as I'm still up for doing the trip, having missed it last year. Hope the blasted strong winds will leave us alone a bit this year! Maverick Martin 1 Quote
great white Posted January 28, 2016 Report Posted January 28, 2016 Because of my birthday and Wendy,s trip I will skip the first weekend in may, second has huge tides. I am now looking at weekend of 14th and 15th May possibly extending before or after to suit the weather I hope that Will and the boys can join me Who else is looking at that weekend? Charlie Quote
Maverick Martin Posted January 28, 2016 Report Posted January 28, 2016 I could possibly do both the end of April beginning of May and the date you are suggesting, not that I'm greedy just keen to get over there this year Kingfisher 126 1 Quote
Kingfisher 126 Posted January 28, 2016 Report Posted January 28, 2016 Looking to go end of April if the weather is kind!!! Quote
