Mal Thomas Posted October 12, 2017 Report Posted October 12, 2017 The weather is definately changeable for the duration of the competition and giving us problems making a decision, saturday always has looked the best day. I wonder who is thinking of going out when????? Quote

great white Posted October 12, 2017 Report Posted October 12, 2017 Keeping an eye on it. But it hardly looks like a 48 hr gap Looks like only Sat or nothing at the moment. Especially as Jayden is coming Probably why this comp used to be booked in the summer Leicester Fisheagle and Mal Thomas 2 Quote
fisherman1055 Posted October 12, 2017 Report Posted October 12, 2017 One day does not make a 48 hour comp I was looking forward to dusting off my son and getting some serious commitment from him Sadly I think we will have to go for another weekend Tony Leicester Fisheagle 1 Quote
Leicester Fisheagle Posted October 12, 2017 Report Posted October 12, 2017 Fisheagle could struggle to get crew for more than one day. This should be a summer comp. when days are longer. Who is likely to be out at 6 pm on Friday evening , even given good weather as the days are too short. Quote
Sam Posted October 13, 2017 Report Posted October 13, 2017 weather is still changeable this morning and not a big window, certainly not 48 hours, should be considered for a summer comp next year, this was always one of the best comps in the year. when is a decision likely to be made on the weather? as leaving to last minute on a Friday is not ideal. Mal Thomas Posted October 13, 2017 Author Report Posted October 13, 2017 Having seen the comments, spoken with Neil and looked at the weather, we have taken the decision to CANCEL the comp this weekend and hope for an Indian summer, you never know. Sorry guys but we have to think of everyone. No doubt some may still get a trip in on Saturday as a consolation. niggle 1 Quote
Tarlach. Posted October 13, 2017 Report Posted October 13, 2017 Why not just change it to a 12hr comp ? 7- 7 Saturday Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Rob Posted October 13, 2017 Report Posted October 13, 2017 Why not just change it to a 12hr comp ? 7- 7 Saturday Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk That's not really the point of it - reason\history of the 48hr is you can fish as much or as little as you like. Overnight if you wish etc. Our usual comps are limited to a short window, this one is the exception. In my experience it is best to not change the rules of a comp last minute, that is a can of worms! Rob Posted October 13, 2017 Report Posted October 13, 2017 Ideas from members are always welcome, don't be shy. Just don't change a comp, hahaha! As mentioned above, it is a good summer comp and no doubt will move back next year. We so postpone and sometimes lose comps due to weather, I think we live in the wrong place for boating! Maybe 2 complimentary hobbies needed, such as boating and kite flying. Quote
Tarlach. Posted October 13, 2017 Report Posted October 13, 2017 I just thought better A comp than NO comp. Oh well Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Jim Posted October 13, 2017 Report Posted October 13, 2017 I've just bought some worms so I'm intending having a bit of a go anyway. Quote

Mike Fox Posted October 13, 2017 Report Posted October 13, 2017 I was undecided about the 48 hour comp, but picked up some bait today, and might be out inshore tomorrow. Anyone have any recent advice as to what's in, and worth going for? Mackerel? Flatties? Bream? Pollack? any early Whiting? Quote
alun j. Posted October 13, 2017 Report Posted October 13, 2017 Hi Mike...Last week there were plenty of plaice; a few bream but no mackerel on inshore marks, The water was 14.5 C and pretty clear Quote
