Jim Posted November 23, 2018 Report Posted November 23, 2018 It still is today Rob. All lit up too. Jacqui said you'd think they'd turn the lights off not advertise the issue. We came home over the old bridge and were delighted to see that the traffic lights for the twin sails were still working. Oh how I love queueing for Bu***r all ! How hard would it be to write 2 extra sets of sequences? One when the twin sails is inoperative & one for the old bridge. Traffic lights on RED and nobody coming through ! ! Sunseekers chucking out time too. Quote

alun j. Posted November 23, 2018 Report Posted November 23, 2018 I was stuck there yesterday and thought the same. Is it such a big adjustment? Quote
Jim Posted November 25, 2018 Report Posted November 25, 2018 I know I'm a simple soul but It can't be THAT flipping difficult. Yes we need the pedestrian crossing bit ( cos we've educated people that they can't cross without one ) Yes people need to go in there for the couple of businesses that are in there but aren't those things on top of the lights sensors ? ? ? ? Jacqui phoned a couple of years ago about the lights letting us through but we couldn't go through because the road was blocked by lights just a few yards away from those lights. She was told they couldn't coordinate them. I'll refrain from swearing! Quote
Mike Fox Posted November 28, 2018 Report Posted November 28, 2018 It might be interesting leaving the twin sails bridge up in the forecast wind in the next few days. I seem to recall they used to stop operating at about 40 knots due to the risk of damage while it was raised. Happyhooker 1 Quote

They are going to be exposed to a lot of stress in the forthcoming high winds Jim 1 Quote

There's another failure by BofP Transport Dept - traffic lights that can't be synchronised - in this day and age - what a travesty. gaffa and Jim 1 1 Quote
Leicester Fisheagle Posted November 28, 2018 Report Posted November 28, 2018 Dave, given the current forecast, your picture could be one of the last ones taken. Allan. Quote

He had all the plans for a fixed span bridge, but was overruled because the rest wanted something for the Millenium. London had the O2, Portsmouth the Spinaker Tower and we got the Booby Prize. I've edited Bobby to read Booby. 😎 Yes this a bridge designed by a committee, it is in effect a CAMEL!! Quote

Here's the explanation for anyone else who didn't know or had forgotten. " a camel is a horse designed by a committee " I think you've summed it up there Tony. gaffa 1 Quote
