Mikey B
Hi all, Hope you and your families are all keeping safe and well. My new boat has now been on it's trailer for nearly seven months without being moved. With over two tons standing on four radial tyres. My question is should I rotate the wheels to avoid tyres flat spots? I do vaguely remember my late father saying tyres can develop flat spots if not moved for a long time. Is this true of the radial tyres we use today. Mikey B
Coddy
I think this would apply if years had passed, my race car can and has sat all winter and now half a race season in not moving with no ill effects, it also uses road tyres. Just make sure pressures are kept up.
Brian
If you're worried, you could jack it up and use axle stands. Although as Dave said I've never noticed a problem. Rob
Mikey B
Hi lads, Thanks for the response. I may just up the pressures slightly as axle stands will probably wreck the tarmac. Who knows how long it could be standing with the current situation lets hope we can get out soon Take care out and about Mikey B Jim
Maverick Martin
Mike, you could put a few planks under axle stands to protect the tarmac, you could then also put the wheels in the garage as another form of protection from the wronguns Jim

Mikey B
Hi Lads, Good point. I have thought of putting paving slabs under the stands. Mikey B
Rob
If you put on axel stands, you can then give em a spin to ensure the brake shoes haven't bound/stuck!R Maverick Martin
Mikey B
Hi Rob, I was advised to park it up with with breaks off to avoid this issue. It will be interesting to see if they are seized in any way as they have never been in any water from new. Just standing for months. Take care Mikey B
Rob
Yes, brakes off 100%, but rust can grow inside the hubs and a quick spin can take the edge off it.Always ensure you make sure the neck is extended when parked, thus is you reverse it in, pull forward a smidge before unhitching.R Coddy and Stuie
Rob
Just popped mine up on axel stands, they spin but can hear the brakes just rubbing, which is to be expected as I am sure the flush kit is worth its weight in Au. But you still get a bit of rust in the drums, just a lot less.R Jim
