2006holmwood Posted September 22, 2020 Author Report Posted September 22, 2020 Can't afford the marina fees, so want something I can put in the drive, and is easy to launch and retrieve Tarlach. 1 Quote
Andy135 Posted September 22, 2020 Report Posted September 22, 2020 For what it's worth, most 16.5 ft boats with a well set up trailer should be straightforward to launch single-handedly. I should know, as I used to launch mine solo when I first started out. Preparation is key to an easy solo launch, as is good trailer maintenance. Quote
plaicemat Posted September 22, 2020 Report Posted September 22, 2020 Until 2 years ago I was launching my Warrior single handedly when I gave in and went for dry stack. I don't know how old you are, I was 71 at the time and could still manage, no probs. Terry. Andy135 1 Quote
2006holmwood Posted September 22, 2020 Author Report Posted September 22, 2020 Being a 77 year old and launching at Baiter slip is not fun. I don't have the money to pay for dry stack or a pontoon. I like the fun of a rib and it's cheap to use. Jim and plaicemat 2 Quote

I drew the line at baiter years ago and always launched at Christchuch, much more user friendly and good parking if you can work around the tides which, being retired at 59, I was able to do. Terry. What's the issue with baiter (never seen it done there), just looks a bit shallow and I guess can get busy on a hot day with jet skis. Quote
Death Trap II Posted September 23, 2020 Report Posted September 23, 2020 not easy to launch at baiter, way to shallow and you have to push the trailer a long way out to float. Jim and 2006holmwood 2 Quote
Jim Posted September 24, 2020 Report Posted September 24, 2020 VERY busy on a nice day. Doesn't cost a fortune though. Quote
