Steve S Posted December 28, 2020 Report Posted December 28, 2020 Happy New Year but what we want to know is it going to be a goer for Alderney and if so when! I wish I had the answers. For those that aren't aware currently to land on Alderney or Guernsey (not Jersey) requires going into 14 day quarantine, hardly conducive to a 4 day fishing trip! I can't say I blame them but it doesn't do much for their economy. I'm going to assume as some point this year travel to Alderney without quarantine will be permissible. No point suggesting suitable dates at the point, however, it would be good to get an idea how many are wanting to go. I'm hoping to take Tigerfish over in May, or any month after that over a neap tide up till August once quarantine requirements are dropped, anyone else? Jim and Andy135 2 Quote

Andy135 Posted December 30, 2020 Report Posted December 30, 2020 I'm keen. Either to take Jersey Girl over or as crew for Tarlach Too. Quote
plaicemat Posted December 30, 2020 Report Posted December 30, 2020 Potentially, if I've had my vaccination, I shall be available as crew and will look forward to it immensely. Terry. Quote

great white Posted December 30, 2020 Report Posted December 30, 2020 If we can get through the Pandemic, we would want to go Quote
Newboy Posted December 31, 2020 Report Posted December 31, 2020 Suppose it all depends on how quickly they can vaccinate the population in Guernsey and Alderney. Quote
Maverick Martin Posted December 31, 2020 Report Posted December 31, 2020 Kam on Alderney they have already been vaccinated................with alcohol Newboy, plaicemat and Jim 3 Quote

Matt Posted January 5, 2021 Report Posted January 5, 2021 I'd like to go as crew if a spot is open and I've had my jab!!! Tarlach. and Jim 2 Quote
Steve S Posted May 1, 2021 Author Report Posted May 1, 2021 Yippee, it looks like Guernsey and I assume Alderney are planning to open up to the UK in July. This appears to be based on widespread vaccinations in both.If that happens I will be looking go in July on a suitable tide, not checked those as yet. plaicemat and Jim 2 Quote
Adam F Posted May 9, 2021 Report Posted May 9, 2021 Team JV are keen to come over, we’ve not been for 3 years. As weekends start to book up would it be an idea to look at dates and tides? Quote
alun j. Posted May 9, 2021 Report Posted May 9, 2021 Just had a look at the tides and dates...... Nearly all the smaller tides through the summer are mid week. The weekend of July 3 / 4 is smallish...and again on 31st / 1st Aug. Quote
Steve S Posted May 9, 2021 Author Report Posted May 9, 2021 Well July 3/4 sounds good, if we get the all clear for then. I can do a midweek one if needs be. plaicemat 1 Quote
alun j. Posted May 9, 2021 Report Posted May 9, 2021 Lots of mid week tides to choose from ...to match good weather. plaicemat 1 Quote
Ragdoll Posted May 9, 2021 Report Posted May 9, 2021 Even though I've only met a couple of guys in passing along f pontoon I'd absolutely love to be involved in going to alderney if any one ever sorts a trip out there! I can chip in with the fuel costs I'm not worried about making tea and I'm hardly ever sea sick unless it's proper rough swell above 2 inches or so 🤣 no only joking ... if there's ever a chance to come out on some ones boat I'd jump at the chance and be part of the crew if needs be . I got a mca boat masters license if that's any help too lol iansimpson63 and Jim 2 Quote
Adam F Posted May 10, 2021 Report Posted May 10, 2021 I'll need to book time off work so are we saying 3rd July onward for a trip? I'll book the week off and go when / if a 3 day window allows? It's been years since we did a proper PBSBAC convoy over to Alderney so would be good to get a few boats together - it's the furthest most of us will get this year for a holiday! Steve S Posted May 10, 2021 Author Report Posted May 10, 2021 I've booked in my diary and holiday Friday 2nd to Monday 5th July. Fingers very much crossed. After the year we have it will be great to have a fair few boats going over and actually meet some of you again. Jim 1 Quote
Adam F Posted May 11, 2021 Report Posted May 11, 2021 Might be worth looking at accommodation now - you can imagine their being quite an influx after lock-down easing?.... Quote

We are onto it, Alun has contacted Mark but due to personal circumstances, his will not be available. I will dig out my fact sheet of understanding lodgings and try to put something together. Terry. Wight Magic Posted May 11, 2021 Report Posted May 11, 2021 I should be able to do these dates as well So Terry if you could let me know how you get on with the accommodation you would be a star Cheers Dave Quote
plaicemat Posted May 21, 2021 Report Posted May 21, 2021 Right, update on accommodation. I have managed so far to secure 3 rooms at one of my usuals but I await definite confirmation when the covid circumstances are confirmed on the island, which is behind Guernsey in making a decision; no change there then. At present, we would have to go to Guernsey first and get tested, isolate there for a day and then go to Alderney, a no goer I would have thought. This is due to change in the next week apparently so Mel will call me ASAP thereafter. I have more options but cannot get hold of the other good option but will keep trying but, in the meantime, can people please let me know how many beds will be required and bear in mind that I don't think singles are going to be an option unless you make your own arrangements.
