Mused on this for a while, thinking about car bhp's and the like, wondering if Elon Musk or anyone will decide to go in for electric outboards, not little putputs but something with oomph. If we're going carbon free something is going to have to happen.

I've ordered 3 for Tiddler.

Saved a fortune as I don't need any batteries but It'll look good when my Brother comes over.  

He's easily impressed by "flashy" stuff.

I think I'll invent something that's powered by Hot air produced when the wives tell us we're wrong ! !

The Merc 600s and nice purring V12 engines, so big they steer from the gearbox so the block stays still.

Power to weight and prob £, the 450 Mercurys are suppose to be better.

I do like the idea of duo props on outboards, they certainly have come a long way in last 10 yrs!

Match them with suitably sized solar panels, add storage for overnight use, and the range is unlimited.

 

The bad news is the size would be something like a football field, the weight of batteries would sink the average battleship,,and you'd probably still not get it on the plane.
