Troy Tempest
Hello all, can anyone identify this steering unit from my 165 mk2. Cable is Ultraflex. So assume this is too similar size to a T85 steering unit, but the four mounting holes are approx 35mm between hole centres , where as a T85 is closer to 70mm thanks Jerry
Brian
My 165 has got a Teleflex, which looks quite different. Jim
plaicemat
I have to say, I did consider changing to hydraulic steering, Baystar from choice but there are cheaper options out there and easy enough to fit oneself. great white
Have a look at the ASAP Marine supplies or Lancing Marine websites you may find a match. They may ask you to email them the pictures. If I was doing that I would mark up some sizes and then retake pictures. Hope that helps Jim
sparky
There is a company in Upton that deals with steering helms etc....Lake Engineering. They are in the estate by Travis Perkins opposite garage. fisherman1055 and Jim
Death Trap II
sorry, those pictures wont load for me. I blew a steering cable last year, was really difficult to get parts. I did eventually find the parts i needed, after much searching! But i agree with @plaicemat, i regret not upgrading to hydraulic when i had the chance. Because i am certain i dont want to go to the hassle of blowing it all apart again and threading cables through the cavities.

great white
I think that it may be an Ultraflex T85 from ASAP Supplies Brian and Jim

great white
Not on mine thankfully, as they were all well protected whenever they passed through bulkheads. But I have seen many at work have problems on Members of the Yacht Club's boats
brook
It seems you have a steering unit that is unique. Although the Ultraflex cables may imply compatibility with T85 units, the 35mm hole spacing means that perhaps it can't be installed correctly. Have you thought through other models or manufacturers that might be similar in size? You might also want to touch base with Ultraflex itself to see what the available steering units are. I wish you luck in your hunting for the correct item!
