The first Trail-away of the year is now planned and in place.

It will be a repeat of the hugely succesful Burnham trip in 2005.

Date: Sunday 12th March 2006

Venue: Burnham on Sea, Somerset

Itinery:

- Meet at Tesco car park in Blandford 5-5.30am

- Convoy trip to B-o-S

- Park boats and breakfast on seafront

- Rig boats and book in ready for off at 8.00am

- Return to shore 3-5pm for weigh in

- 4-6pm return home

We had 5 boats last year and I would like to make this at least 10 this year. The fishing was superb as was the hospitality of the guys from Burnham. If you have a moored boat and still want to fish let me know, Ill find you a crew spot.

The fishing is basically uptiding in 20-30' of coffee coloured water for codling, rays, conger and bass.

To get things going now, lets start a list of names:

BW + crew

I'd like to join in as well.

Do you think my little boat is too small to take up there ?

It's a bit cramped and slow with two on board [ and no radio ].

I'll be happy to crew on another boat ........ if they don't mind me catching the bigger fish !! [joke !] [ I seem to do alright with rays ].

March is a good time to fish somewhere else!!

Dave,

No need to worry regarding the sand - the tractor tows all the boats in and out and I wouldn't fancy trying to tow the boat out even with a 4WD !

Adam,

If anyone is short of crew ( unlikely I know, but you never know ! ) then my work colleague ( Westray ) will be up for it I am sure.

( Now I had better check with him smile.gif )

Yes please Bob. I'm still OK for crewing if that's alright with you.

You'll be pleased to know I've had a bit more experience of netting conger since the last time we went out, so hopefully I won't lose any competition winning fish you bring to the side of the boat this time round.

Sounds like you will have a good turnout Adam

I do not think I will be going unless the boat build is getting to me and Wendy sends me to sea. Or Sam needs a lift ph34r.gif

I can offer one more. Stingray will be returning to her old home with me and Pete on board. Is bait at Burnham mostly squid and mackerel?
