Adam,

Is there a limit on numbers of boats the Burnham Club can accomodate? I'd quite like to tag along if life, wife, weather and work don't conspire against me. I'd join the club first (fair's fair) but I don't want to edge out an existing club member if numbers are limited.

Burnham Club now have a web site. I have added it to the web links page ( now how many people go there I wonder ! )

If you want the link go to the web links page and look it up. Also, feel free to add you own links as well if you know any good ones.

The Burnham link is under Fishing / Clubs and the web links page can be found here :- Web Links

Whilst we arrive at 8.00am, last year we had brekkie, then prepared the boats etc and it was about 10.00 by the time we launched.

Launching alone is tricky and not recommended unless you have done it before - huge tides and a sticky muddy foreshore - a proper 4x4 is essential.

Im sure a few of the Burnham guys will still be around at that time - where are you coming from?

Thanks for the info - its on the cards then (weather permitting) - I'm coming from Swindon. Plaicemat is comong from Carterton and I have made contact with him. You say muddy foreshore & huge tides - is this suitable for a novice? Do I need waders etc?

I went there last year as a bit of a novice. You will have a buddy boat with you, there is no way I could fish there without one, so you had better have a buddy boat ! ( This year I shant be needing one which goes so slow smile.gif ).

Waders are a good idea, just to hold the boat while they fetch the tractor to tow your trailer out.

Expect the boat to be full of sand after the trip smile.gif

PS: I was daunted by the huge tides but didnt really notice it, because you are fishing in shallow water ( 10-20 ft ish if I recall ) and there is no need to steam the anchor out !

Don't worry about the launching or fishing aspect of the trip. The guys at Burnham are brilliant. Last year I was worried about beach launching my warrior 195 which weighs in at well over 1500kg I neednt have. You get your boat onto the hard packed sand which is suitable for cars then their club take over with the tractor and before you know it your on the water. They also buddy you with a local boat so you are looked after for the whole day. When you return to the beach the tractor haul's you out.. simple

Come along you'll have a blast

Don't put Terry & Pete on your register for Blandford, we'll be coming downhill from Oxfordshire. Meet you on the seafront about 8.00am.
