charlieannear Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 One more question as it's almost the weekend.. Does anyone here have an hour-meter to keep track of their engine use? And can anyone suggest where to get one from? Quote
Seamouse Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 Hi Charlie, I do. It isn't much use, except to tell me that the annual service is being done at about 1/3rd of the recommended hours. I need to go fishing more often Mine I inherited, might find one at a car boot sale or through something like a tool suppliers, though most will be 240V not 12V? Steve FWIW, the e-tec engines have an inbuilt hour meter. Quote
Brian Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 I fitted a digital one when I reconditioned my engine. I bought it from Force 4. Here Quote
charlieannear Posted February 10, 2006 Author Report Posted February 10, 2006 Excellent, something else to add my list then! I'll have to sell the boat to pay for all the stuff that I want to buy for it! C. Quote
Paul D Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 Charlie, If it is a 4 stroke I have an hourmeter / tacho for sale ( as I have got an etec now ) which is easy to fit close to the engine. ( it has a lead which you wrap around one of the HT leads on the engine and another which you connect to the earth. ) If you have a 2 stroke then it will still work as an hour meter but will show the incorrect RPM ( probably twice the correct rate I think ). charlieannear Posted February 13, 2006 Author Report Posted February 13, 2006 Hi Paul thanks, but the Johnson is a 2 stroke, and it has a tacho fitted already. C. Quote
rich Posted February 19, 2006 Report Posted February 19, 2006 Frank W. Murphy Limited at Laverstock Salisbury supply hours run counters and real good mechanical gauges with adjustable switches built in. Ring 01722 410055 and ask for Chas Kimber. Tell him Richard put you on to them. Ask them to send you a Marine Catalogue, theres some interesting kit in it. (you could always look at their webb site) I worked for them for 20 years so I am biased. Rich Quote
