Google Earth.

BBC,news this morning stated that;within 6 years Google Earth will be streaming "live" pictures, onto your PC. I often bring up my fishing location on the "earth" screen,Quite interesting to get a different view.It did occur to me that if I had a fixed plan,I could tell the wife or someone else, where I would be and she could keep an eye on me....Although I can see that for some less fortunate than myself, that this might not be such a cunning plan. ph34r.gif jack

The odd thing about Google Earth is that you never see any people, even in densely populated areas; parked cars, moving boats etc. but never any bodies.

Is this done with computers, Tippex or via Duncan's photo system ??

So I can't see that you'd be able to keep an eye on anyone

Yes.......Wedger......I take it back!

......but they don't look very real........and there aren't many folk there!

I scrolled across to the beach.........and only a few in the sun!! When was that image 'captured'??, Sept....mid-week, or 7 am ??

I then went across to Southampton High St., again only a few bods!...not shopping time methinks!

Where I live, it's just a grey fuzz, you wouldn't see a tank parked outside! If you go west........there are clouds on the pics. and resolution is limited to fields.

There's a long way to go before they can keep an eye on Jack!

A jigsaw puzzle of whatever fits, and I assume that highly sponsored areas get the higher res images included, just a guess mind.

Surprising how many different shadow angles there are in a small area.

I like the windows version of Google Earth, called Live.Local.com

On there you can get a 3D view and have a look at your house from different angles. There are different cars outisde in each angle shot so the pictures are obviously taken at different times.

Available resolution does vary, and like Trevor suggests this is down to economics.

The Live.Local pictures are more recent than Google too.

My own area.[shaftesbury ] is pants.! no closing in at all.,but then,we have a low population, and I think that is the criteria for detail work.My daughter lives in Christchurch and you can study her garden and see here folding clothes drier quite clearly.you can identify each car parked in the school next door quite sharply,But the caravan stood next to her garage belonged to the previous owners who moved out more than 2 years ago.!..So just how old is the image we receive.?.. dry.gif jack
